This hands-on role supports semiconductor nanofabrication, production processing, process development, and continuous improvement for advanced TFLN photonic integrated devices. The successful candidate will spend a significant portion of their time in the cleanroom operating fabrication equipment in accordance with approved procedures, supporting experiments under the direction of senior engineers, and documenting results. The role requires strong learning ability, practical hands-on skills, attention to detail, and the critical thinking needed to recognize process deviations and investigate potential causes.\n\nDuties and Responsibilities\n\nRead, understand, and follow approved standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, process specifications, and safety requirements when operating semiconductor production equipment and performing cleanroom processes.\nCarry out process-development and R&D experiments according to plans and instructions provided by senior engineers; accurately record process conditions, measurements, observations, and results.\nOrganize, analyze, and present experimental results in a clear and systematic format through technical summaries, data tables, charts, and presentations.\nOperate nanofabrication and metrology equipment, including e-beam and photolithography systems, plasma etchers, deposition systems, CD-SEM, AFM, ellipsometry, profilometry, and optical interferometry, after completing the required training and qualification.\nMonitor production and experimental processes, identify deviations from expected performance, and apply critical thinking to investigate potential failure causes using available process data, equipment information, and metrology results.\nEscalate process deviations and equipment concerns to senior engineers in a timely manner, and support root-cause investigations, corrective actions, and process improvement activities.\nCollect and maintain accurate process records and support statistical process control (SPC), process monitoring, traceability, and documentation requirements.\nCollaborate with process, equipment, integration, and design engineers to support rapid experimental iteration and resolve fabrication challenges.\nProvide practical feedback on SOPs, work instructions, and process specifications, and assist senior engineers with controlled documentation updates.\nLearn new equipment and processes quickly, develop strong hands-on proficiency, and consistently maintain high standards of safety, cleanliness, organization, and workmanship.\nBachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. degree in Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.\n2+ years of hands-on semiconductor process engineering experience, with expertise in at least one of the following areas: e-beam lithography, photolithography, plasma dry etching, wet etching and cleaning, chemical vapor deposition, physical vapor deposition, e-beam evaporation, or metal electroplating.\nHands-on experience with metrology tools such as CD-SEM, AFM, ellipsometry, film-thickness measurement systems, and particle-measurement systems for process verification and defect analysis.\nDemonstrated ability to follow technical instructions, execute experiments under engineering guidance, maintain complete records, and present results in a clear, logical, and systematic manner.\nStrong observation, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to recognize process deviations and identify plausible failure causes.\nAbility to understand and consistently follow SOPs, work instructions, process specifications, and cleanroom safety requirements.\nStrong learning ability, attention to detail, and hands-on aptitude for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting semiconductor production equipment.\n\nRequired Skills and Experience\n\nBachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. degree in Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.\n2+ years of hands-on semiconductor process engineering experience, with expertise in at least one of the following areas: e-beam lithography, photolithography, plasma dry etching, wet etching and cleaning, chemical vapor deposition, physical vapor deposition, e-beam evaporation, or metal electroplating.\nHands-on experience with metrology tools such as CD-SEM, AFM, ellipsometry, film-thickness measurement systems, and particle-measurement systems for process verification and defect analysis.\nDemonstrated ability to follow technical instructions, execute experiments under engineering guidance, maintain complete records, and present results in a clear, logical, and systematic manner.\nStrong observation, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to recognize process deviations and identify plausible failure causes.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\n\n2+ years of industry experience in compound semiconductor fabrication or photonic integrated circuit processing.\nExperience with nanofabrication of photonic devices, process integration, photonic material properties and modification, and the integration of MEMS and electronic devices. Specific knowledge of lithography, etching, deposition, sputtering, and related processes is highly valued.\nExperience applying large-scale data analytics to track-and-trace datasets to enable predictive insights and real-time defect containment.\nExperience with heterogeneous wafer-to-wafer or chip-to-wafer bonding is valued.\nExperience with 5S and Six Sigma methodologies.\n\nQuantum Computing Inc.
