an experienced Data Architect to lead the design, governance, quality, and integration of enterprise data supporting a large-scale technology modernization initiative.\n\nThe Data Architect will develop data models, define data flows and lineage, establish data architecture standards, support data governance and quality, and provide architectural guidance for data storage, integration, APIs, migration, and cloud data platforms.\n\nResponsibilities\nDevelop and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models.\nDefine data structures, schemas, metadata standards, and data architecture patterns.\nDocument data flows, lineage, transformation rules, and dependencies.\nEstablish and enforce data naming conventions, quality standards, and stewardship practices.\nEnsure data architecture supports operational systems, reporting, analytics, auditing, and enterprise metrics.\nLead design of API-based data services and secure data-sharing patterns.\nEvaluate data storage, ingestion, transformation, processing, and management approaches.\nProvide architectural guidance across cloud and hybrid data environments.\nSupport data migration and conversion planning, including profiling, mapping, cleansing, transformation, validation, and reconciliation.\nEmbed security, privacy, and access controls into data architecture.\nEnsure data designs align with enterprise governance, regulatory, and security requirements.\nReview vendor data architecture and technical deliverables.\nCreate and maintain data dictionaries, mapping documentation, lineage diagrams, and operational procedures.\nIdentify data gaps, redundancies, quality issues, and modernization opportunities.\nCollaborate with enterprise architects, security architects, integration teams, developers, vendors, and business stakeholders.\nProvide technical recommendations for complex data architecture and troubleshooting issues.\nParticipate in Agile ceremonies, architecture reviews, design sessions, and technical planning.\nMentor technical teams and support knowledge-transfer activities.\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's degree is required.\nBachelor's degree must include at least 12 semester hours or 18 quarter hours of computer science coursework.\nCandidate must be able to provide documentation verifying the degree and specific computer science coursework completed if requested.\n7+ years of professional IT experience involving information technology analysis, data analysis, system design, development, databases, or related technical disciplines.\n5+ years of hands-on Data Architecture experience.\nStrong experience developing enterprise data models, schemas, data flows, metadata, and lineage.\nExperience with enterprise data governance, data quality, and Master Data Management concepts.\nExperience with data integration, migration, conversion, and transformation patterns.\nDemonstrated experience with data profiling, mapping, cleansing, validation, and reconciliation.\nExperience with API-based data services and modern integration patterns.\nStrong experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.\nExperience with cloud data technologies across Azure, AWS, and/or GCP.\nExperience with data storage, processing, ingestion, and serverless technologies.\nExperience with modern development languages such as Java, C#, Python, and/or NodeJS.\nFamiliarity with Docker and Kubernetes as they relate to data workloads.\nUnderstanding of Zero Trust, encryption, authentication, authorization, privacy, and data security controls.\nStrong understanding of data lifecycle management.\nStrong analytical, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.\nMust be comfortable working as an individual 1099 Independent Contractor.\nMust be willing and able to work onsite in Washington State as required.\nMust be able to complete required background screening, security training, confidentiality requirements, and system-access requirements.\nPreferred Certifications\nOne or two relevant current certifications are preferred and may be considered when determining compensation within the posted range:\nMicrosoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate\nCertified Data Management Professional (CDMP)\nSnowflake certification relevant to data architecture\nGoogle Cloud Professional Data Engineer\nOther current cloud/data architecture certifications may be considered.\nPreferred Experience\nEnterprise-wide data architecture programs.\nLarge-scale legacy or mainframe modernization.\nEnterprise data governance implementations.\nCloud
