This position combines hands-on algorithm development, experimental validation, and cross-functional collaboration to translate research concepts into real-world, deployable solutions.\r\nWhat You'll Do:\r\nDevelop and optimize advanced reconstruction algorithms for X-ray CT and related imaging modalities\r\nDesign physics-based and data-driven reconstruction pipelines\r\nImplement machine learning and deep learning approaches for reconstruction, artifact reduction, and image enhancement\r\nSolve inverse problems using advanced numerical optimization techniques\r\nBuild high-performance implementations using GPU acceleration (CUDA) and parallel computing methods\r\nProcess and analyze large-scale 3D volumetric datasets\r\nPrototype new algorithmic concepts and transition them into production software\r\nDesign and execute simulation and experimental validation studies\r\nCollaborate closely with hardware, applications, and software engineering teams\r\nDocument algorithms, validation results, and software modules clearly and thoroughly\r\nContribute to technical publications, patents, white papers, or internal innovation initiatives\r\nPresent technical findings internally and externally, including at conferences when appropriate\r\nWhat You Bring:\r\nMaster's degree and/or relevant work experience in technical field:\r\nComputer Science\r\nElectrical Engineering\r\nApplied Mathematics\r\nImaging Science\r\nComputational Physics\r\nExperience with modern ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow)\r\nExperience processing and analyzing 3D or volumetric datasets\r\nStrong understanding of:\r\nInverse problems\r\nNumerical optimization\r\nSignal and/or image processing\r\nExperience with GPU programming and CUDA\r\nProficiency in Python and/or C++\r\nStrong analytical thinking and experimental validation skills\r\nHelpful (But Not Required):\r\nExperience with tomographic reconstruction methods (e.g., FBP, iterative reconstruction)\r\nBackground in computational physics or imaging system modeling\r\nExperience transitioning research code into production environments\r\nPublication or patent experience\r\nFamiliarity with high-performance computing environments\r\nWhy Join NSI:\r\nWork on cutting-edge CT technology used across high-impact industries\r\nSee your algorithms move from research to real-world industrial systems\r\nCollaborate with multidisciplinary experts across hardware, software, and applications\r\nContribute to innovation in nondestructive testing and advanced imaging\r\nAt North Star Imaging, we are committed to building a team that reflects a wide range of experiences, backgrounds, and perspectives.
