Job Description – APRN (Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner)
Location- New Port Richey
General Description
The Medication Management APRN (Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner) at Premier Community HealthCare provides psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing medication management for children and adults experiencing mental illness or psychological distress. This role supports patients with acute and chronic behavioral health needs while promoting mental well-being, safety, and stability. The APRN will deliver psychopharmacologic services, collaborate with multidisciplinary providers, and help strengthen access to high-quality behavioral health care in the community.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Provide compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric care within APRN scope and organizational policies
Conduct psychiatric assessments, diagnose mental health conditions, and develop treatment plans
Manage psychotropic medications, including initiation, titration, monitoring, and follow-up
Provide education on medication use, side effects, and wellness strategies
Offer supportive therapy and health management guidance when appropriate
Document all encounters in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) in a timely and accurate manner
Review and respond to daily clinical tasks, medication requests, and patient messages
Collaborate with providers, therapists, and clinical support team members across all PCHG locations
Participate in improving Behavioral Health workflows and quality measures
Mentor and support new Behavioral Health staff as needed
Participate in after-hours call rotation as assigned
Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA at all times
Support Premier’s mission and participate in community initiatives
Contribute to organizational goals and drive Quality Improvement / Quality Assurance (QI/QA)
Perform additional duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong clinical understanding of psychiatric disorders and psychopharmacology
Ability to perform diagnostic evaluations and manage complex medication regimens
Excellent communication skills across disciplines and with diverse patient populations
Compassion, empathy, and commitment to patient-centered behavioral health care
Strong documentation, organization, and time-management skills
Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary care team
High ethical standards and professionalism in all interactions
Qualifications
Master’s degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program (Psychiatric Mental Health or Family Medicine with BH focus)
Current APRN License in the State of Florida
Active DEA License
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Board Eligible or Board Certified PMHNP preferred
Minimum of three (3) years’ clinical experience preferred
Ability to obtain and maintain Epic certification and complete annual compliance requirements
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
Ability to lift 20 lbs. regularly and 30–50 lbs. occasionally
Ability to sit for long periods of time
Direct exposure to computer screens
Possible exposure to infectious diseases
Ability to travel between PCHG sites for coverage when needed
