JOB SUMMARY:The Palm Beach Cook prepares all food items for Palm Beach adhering to all Moody Gardens Regulations as well as Local Food Regulations.POSITION AUTHORITY:The incumbent is authorized to take reasonable action necessary to carry outassigned duties and responsibilities, provided such action is consistent with position guidelines as outlined below.POSITION GUIDELINES:Position guidelines include, but are not limited to, established company and department policies and procedures and all supervisory directives. The incumbent is expected to exercise sound, reasonable judgment and initiative, and give high priority to accuracy and details in the performance of job responsibilities.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Must maintain a Guest focus while performing dutiesAssume 100% responsibility for quality of guest experienceFollow Chefs assignments for opening and closing procedures and food preparationMaintain proper inventory levels of food in holding bins, monitoring waste at all timesOperation and set up of equipmentPrepare food items by complying with portions size, quality standards, departmental rules, policies and proceduresKeep all foods refrigerated when not being usesEnsure that proper food temperatures are maintainedResponsible for safety standards, neatness and sanitation of work areasHelp remove all trash from concession areasCook all foods to proper temperature and ensure consistency of productAdhere to company cost control guidelines by not over or under portioningReceive verbal instructions for food as requested by guestsKeep work area clean and sufficiently stockedClean and sanitize all work areas and food preparation equipmentAdhere to company guidelines for appearance and uniform standardsAny and all other duties as assigned; duties are subject to change as management deems necessary to best serve the needs of Moody GardensEDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:Prior Culinary experience preferredCulinary Arts Degree or current enrollment in Culinary School preferredMust obtain TABC & Food Handlers Certification prior to beginning workREQUIRED SKILLS:Must be reliable and responsibleKnowledge of Galveston County Health Department rules and regulationsPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Ability to perform tasks that include reaching, bending, and stoopingAbility to work in a standing position for long periods of timeAbility to safely lift bags, cases, and stacks up to 60 pounds many times per dayAbility to work in hot, humid, and loud environment for long periods of time
