The engineer supports the sales team by providing technical expertise throughout the sales and project process. The role involves developing solutions, preparing estimates, designing control systems, and creating detailed schematics and panel layouts. The engineer will recommend appropriate products and communicate technical information to customers and internal partners, playing a key role in driving panel project opportunities.\n\nExciting Work You Will Do\n\nCreate estimates from designs, specifications, or verbal communication\n\nDesign detailed wiring diagrams and panel layouts via AutoCAD\n\nSelect hardware components and design electrical schematics\n\nInterface with new or existing field devices\n\nPLC and HMI programming\n\nPerform duties related to the design, development, and implementation of PLC control panels\n\nConfigure settings in hardware devices\n\nRead P&ID drawings and customer specifications to select correct products\n\nReview applications that include valve, flow, temperature, pressure, and level product sizing and selection\n\nRecommend and/or analyze materials and equipment required for projects\n\nExplain and articulate product features and applications\n\nCompile proposals and reports related to technical products\n\nClarify customer understanding of products and services, answering questions and offering relevant information\n\nCommunicate project development to customers, outside sales representatives, manufacturers, and location managers\n\nUnderstand customers’ needs and identify sales opportunities\n\nUnderstand the technical needs of the customer and suggest appropriate products and services\n\nCoordinate project details with colleagues as necessary\n\nCommunicate with customers and vendors through various channels\n\nProcess orders, quotes, and requests\n\nRespond promptly to customer inquiries\n\nFollow up with customers and resolve any issues that may arise\n\nStay current on new and evolving product offerings; utilize knowledge in selling activities\n\nKeep customers and colleagues informed about new technological products\n\nPerform other duties and projects as assigned\n\nCompetencies You Possess\n\nCustomer Focus\n\nResults, action oriented\n\nAccountability and responsibility\n\nTeamwork and collaboration\n\nDisplaying technical expertise\n\nDetail oriented\n\nTime Management\n\nUnderstanding Others, Listening\n\nContinuous learning mindset\n\nWhat You’ll Need\n\nWork Experience: Entry Level engineering\n\nEducation: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent combination of skills and experience\n\nAnalytical/Computer Skills: Critical thinking and eye for detail; competent with MS Office and Excel; ability to read, analyze and interpret technical documents and bid specifications; proficient with AutoCAD, AutoCAD electrical, or similar software\n\nOrganization Skills: Highly organized, detail-oriented, ability to multi-task and shift priorities as needed, able to work in a fast-paced, continuously evolving environment\n\nCross-functional skills: Ability to work well across functions; provides excellent internal and external customer service\n\nCommunication Skills: Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, organizational and written/verbal communication skills; ability to communicate technical information to non-technical customers or team members\n\nPhysical, Mental and Visual Skills: Reasonable accommodations may be made for disability\n\nAbility to see/sit/stand/walk/talk and hear\n\nAbility to lift/move/carry up to 50 lbs\n\nAbility to be on your feet for 8 hours a day\n\nAbility to climb stairs and step ladders, bend, stoop, crouch, and kneel\n\nTravel: Willing to travel up to 30%; occasionally overnight\n\nDriver’s License: Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license\n\nPhysical Environment: Exposure to temperature conditions and consistent noise level typical of a fabrication shop/distribution center\n\nQualifications We Prefer But Don’t Require\n\nWork Experience: Previous technical experience in a related field; knowledge of NEC, UL control panel, and hazardous location standards\n\nThe Kendall Group is an equal opportunity employer.
