Thorough understanding of all aspects of the paving industry including preparatory work, grades, drainage, paving patterns, aggregate size, job specifications, oil consistencies, compaction and other details related to asphalt paving. The operator will control material taken into the paver and the depths of material distributed through the machine. The operator also leads in planning out the job, walking and marking plan with foreman or paver operator (or both), measuring out the passes, determining the yield of a truckload of material, communicating with the paving operator to keep the pace of job steady, and monitoring the mat, edges, joints, and other aspects of job quality.\n\nMinimum Qualifications\n\nMust be a current member or able to join Operators#701.\n\nMust possess a valid driver's license.\n\nAt least 1-2 years' previous experience in construction, specifically in paving equipment/operations or related education/experience.\n\nMust have knowledge of proper equipment operation, grade, and work operations.\n\nMust pass pre-employment physical exam and pre-employment controlled substance testing.\n\nDemonstrates the ability to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and nights as needed.\n\nDemonstrates the ability to conform to and maintain OSHA, MSHA, DOT and all other company or state rules and regulations.\n\nMust have current US Authorization to work or ability to obtain without company assistance prior to start date.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\n\nValid CDL License\n\nKey Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)\n\nOperate Roller, Paver or Screed, Blade, Loader, Backhoe, or other heavy equipment.\n\nLoads and unloads equipment and secures equipment on trailer.\n\nAssist labor crew including shoveling, raking, and compacting of asphalt materials.\n\nRoutinely assist other members of the workforce in different areas of production.\n\nPromptly communicate with supervisors on any flaws in material.\n\nTake action to avoid potential hazards or obstructions.\n\nOther tasks and duties as assigned to meet business needs.\n\nRegular and timely attendance.\n\nParticipate in and promote an inclusive work environment.\n\nWork Environment\n\nRegularly exposed to traffic hazards and moving mechanical parts; outside weather conditions and vibration. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.\n\nThe noise level in the work environment is usually loud, however, PPE will be provided by our team to keep you safe. Please provide your own pair of steel-toed boots.\n\nJob requires the following motions: bending, hammering, stooping, pushing, pulling, squatting, throwing.
