Ranked among Fortune’s Magazine’s most admired companies, the company focuses on solid growth, improving profitability and strong returns across its worldwide platforms and divisions.\n\nITW Specialty Films is a division of Illinois Tool Works Inc and designs, manufactures and markets specialized Holographic films for the consumer packaging, trading cards and lottery market under the ShineMark brand.\n\nESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES\n\nMetallizer – Machine Operator –1st Shift 6am - 2pm\n\nRead schedule to determine timing for production changeovers needed at metallizer machine.\nStop and start operation of machine using control panel\nAlign or fasten machine parts such as rollers and boats by using hand tools.\nThread or feed film through rollers, and adjust wire feeds, speed and line speed of product or machine.\nObserve machine and product during operation to detect defects or deviations from specification, and make machine adjustments to wire feed, speed.\nPerform a variety of machine setups and operations to imprint a metallization, and design onto various film, and rewinding, as well as material handling and finished product.\nExamine, measure, test product to ensure conformance to specifications. Follow testing procedures and operate quality testing equipment. Make pass/fail decision, may consult with supervisors and/or technical staff on questionable items.\nClean machine and parts between runs (one to several times per shift). Confined space entry may be required (machine specific).\nMaterial handling of product and machine parts (load, unload, pack, and transport) using carts, pallet.\nOperating and driving a Forklift/Fork truck.\n\nOTHER DUTIES\n\nUse computer equipment to print production run sheets and labels and perform QA testing.\nFollow hazardous material handling requirements when working with solvents.\nAttain thorough knowledge of all product codes, color numbering system, and jumbo tag system.\nCross train and operate equipment in other teams and assist other operators as needed.\nRecord production run quantities following SOP’s, job order, and perform quality controls checks on product and materials.\n\nEDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE\n\nHigh school diploma or GED\nExperience within a manufacturing environment and /or mechanical aptitude are preferred\n\nCOMPETENCIES\n\nIntermediate Computer Skills\nAttention to detail and strong verbal and written communication skills\nWillingness to learn and the Flexibility to work in other departments within ITW ShineMark, NA as assigned.\nExperience with 5S helpful but not required\nAbility to adapt to a challenging and demanding work environment.\n\nPHYSICAL DEMANDS\n\nWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and walk, around the machines to perform visual inspections of the product, sit as needed.\nWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to climb ladders and stairs\nAdditionally, reach with hands and arms.
