Mental Health Technician The Carolina Center for Behavioral Health is currently looking for a Mental Health Technician to join our team of dedicated professionals. The Carolina Center is a 156-bed private behavioral health system located on 13 acres in the Greenville, South Carolina Area. Specializing in psychiatric programs and substance abuse treatments such as detox and rehab, The Carolina Center serves Greenville, Spartanburg, Anderson, and areas throughout South Carolina and western North Carolina. Programs are available at various levels of care to accommodate the severity of every patient's condition: inpatient, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient treatment. We are currently seeking a Mental Health Technician who will provide direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Responsibilities include the provision of a safe and therapeutic milieu, crisis intervention and assistance with activities of daily living. The Mental Health Technician must demonstrate flexibility for reassignment to units providing care to varied populations including male and female, adolescents and adults as well as dually diagnosed adults. To provide direct patient care under the supervision of an RN to adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. To ensure the safety and well being of these patients and to support the maintenance of therapeutic milieu. Conducts 15-minute rounds on patients per policy. Assist patients who are prone to fall when walking or sitting. Participate in restraint and seclusion of patients when required. Supports facility service excellence standards. Maintains desirable pattern of attendance, punctuality, and productivity. Provides assistance in implementing patients' treatment plans by; (a) monitoring patients' progress; (b) communicating information regarding patients' behavior to other members of treatment team; (c) maintains communication with patient, family members and referral sources in patient's interest; (d) facilitates or co-facilitates didactic groups, community meetings, or drug or alcohol education groups; (e) encouraging and facilitating patients' participation in therapeutic activities; (f) supervising patients to ensure their safety and their involvement in treatment; (g) providing input during shift report. Certified Nursing Assistant preferred. Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, recreational therapy or appropriate therapeutic discipline preferred. Experience: Zero- one (0-1) year of experience required. Two (2) years of related experience preferred. A knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness, preferred. Additional Requirements: Successful completion Management Aggressive Behavior Training (HWC) before on the unit orientation and prior to assisting with restraining procedures. Successful certification through American Red Cross or American Heart Association for CPR prior to taking an independent patient assignment. Work Hours: PRN Employees are required to work a minimum of 36 hours per month.
