This role partners closely with production, quality, engineering, and operations teams to enhance process efficiency, product quality, operational reliability, and safety while supporting new product introductions and capital improvement projects.Location: Chicago, Illinois (Onsite)Key ResponsibilitiesProcess EngineeringLead process engineering initiatives across chemical manufacturing operations.Provide technical guidance and engineering support to production teams.Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for colloidal silica manufacturing processes.Analyze manufacturing performance and implement process improvements.Support troubleshooting activities for complex production and process issues.Manufacturing OperationsCollaborate with production management to improve operational performance.Optimize manufacturing processes to increase productivity and product consistency.Support manufacturing teams in resolving process-related challenges.Develop standardized operating procedures for manufacturing activities.Promote operational excellence through engineering best practices.Continuous ImprovementLead initiatives focused on improving safety, quality, efficiency, and productivity.Identify opportunities for process optimization and waste reduction.Support Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement programs.Implement best practices across manufacturing operations.Measure and monitor process performance using key operational metrics.Process Safety & ComplianceSupport and strengthen Process Safety Management (PSM) initiatives.Promote a strong culture of workplace safety and regulatory compliance.Participate in risk assessments and process hazard evaluations.Ensure manufacturing procedures align with company and regulatory requirements.Maintain accurate engineering and operational documentation.Capital Projects & Product DevelopmentProvide engineering leadership for capital improvement projects.Support the scale-up and commercialization of new products.Collaborate with cross-functional teams during new product introductions.Evaluate process modifications and recommend engineering solutions.Assist in commissioning and startup of new equipment and systems.Automation & Process ControlSupport Distributed Control Systems (DCS), PLC, and process control technologies.Assist with process visualization and manufacturing automation initiatives.Improve Statistical Process Control (SPC) capabilities across production.Collaborate with engineering teams to optimize control systems.Support integration of new technologies into manufacturing operations.Leadership & Cross-Functional CollaborationMentor and develop operations personnel through technical coaching and knowledge sharing.Build cross-functional relationships with Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Maintenance teams.Lead technical discussions and engineering problem-solving initiatives.Participate in multidisciplinary project teams.Promote a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.QualificationsRequiredBachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.Minimum of seven years of experience in a chemical manufacturing environment.Experience working in a Process Safety Management (PSM) facility.Strong knowledge of industrial manufacturing processes.Excellent communication, leadership, and collaboration skills.Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.PreferredSeven or more years of experience in complex manufacturing environments.Experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS), PLCs, and Human Machine Interface (HMI) programming.Experience leading cross-functional engineering projects.Knowledge of resin, polymer manufacturing, filtration technologies, or colloidal silica processes.Experience implementing Statistical Process Control (SPC)
