{"schemaVersion":"jobsearcher.job.v1","id":"523508e2f11bac9933edfae3","url":"https://jobsearcher.com/jobs/523508e2f11bac9933edfae3","canonicalUrl":"https://jobsearcher.com/jobs/523508e2f11bac9933edfae3","title":"SOFTWARE VIRTUALIZATION ENGINEER","description":"SOFTWARE VIRTUALIZATION ENGINEER\nArnold, MO Onsite only, work tasks require access to customer networks\nJob Description:\n\nPTFS is looking for a Software Virtualization Engineer to support the virtualization of a variety of mission applications as part of the User Facing and Data Center Services Contract supporting the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency systems.\n\nResponsibilities:\nDevelopment of Virtualized Packages for Mission Baseline Applications\nApplications will be consumed both by VDI sessions and thick clients\nApplications include those with plugins and advanced graphics requirements\nWork with application testers and mission SME's to validate mission application behavior\nIncorporate any required sequencing changes into the app sequencing process\nIdentify facets of user application settings (registry, AppData, etc.) that need to be persisted across sessions in a non-persistent VDI environment\nIdentify automation opportunities for application sequencing and work with the engineering team to streamline the sequencing process for mission applications, once established\nAssist the virtualization team and VDI team with application delivery infrastructure configuration, as needed\nImprove backup/Disaster Recovery and Continuity of Operations.\nArticulating knowledge, discoveries, designs, etc. rapidly and concisely in written detailed designs, test plans and test cases, implementation plans, operational guides, and training guides under project management time and cost-constrained deadlines.\nPerforming work without appreciable direction and exercising considerable latitude in the determination of technical objectives of assignments.\nWorking with VMware software defined data center products and tools for troubleshooting and performance tuning.\nAnalyze, test, and apply regular security patches and software update as required\nIn-depth and up-to-date knowledge of Virtualization products and capabilities\nAbility to analyze and apply virtualization product capabilities to changing program requirements\nGood work ethic and active desire to learn.\nSkillful time management and organizational skills to set and meet deadlines.\nExcellent written and oral communication skills\nCreate and maintain technical documentation and provide training to other team members\nIncident resolution and fulfillment of software requests\nPerforms all other work as assigned.\n\nRequirements:\nBachelor's Degree and 5+ years of experience with Systems Administration/Virtualization. (Additional Education, Training, Certifications or Work Experience can be substituted in lieu of degree or work experience)\nA degree may be substituted with additional years of experience\n8140.01M IAT Level II certification\n3+ years of experience with VDI technologies, including VMware Horizon, Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, or Microsoft Remote Desktop Services.\n2+ years of experience with Citrix XenApp or comparable application virtualization technology (Microsoft App-V, FlexApp, App Volumes, etc)\nDesired Qualifications:\nExperience with Windows Desktop (10/11) and Server (2012+) Operating Systems\nUtilize scripting and automation tools (e.g., PowerShell) to automate tasks and manage deployments.\nExperience with non-persistent desktop environments\nExperience with profile management solutions such as VMware DEM or Liquidware Labs' Profile-Unity\nFamiliarity with ActiveDirectory, specifically Group Policy\nUnderstanding of load-balancing application delivery services\nUnderstand principles of ITIL\nAble to create architectural design documents and presentations\nAble to test and apply hardware and software updates\nUnderstand architectural frameworks such as TOGAF\nVirtualization compute environment certification, i.e. VMware Certified Associate for Data Center Virtualization (VCA-DCV)\nFamiliarity with ticketing systems (Service+, ServiceNow, Remedy,
