Senior Refrigeration Application Engineer
Smart Care’s Climate Solutions Business Unit is the trusted design build and service leader in the commercial refrigeration industry. Nationwide, leading grocery stores, cold storage facilities and distribution warehouses rely on Smart Care to design, build, maintain and repair commercial refrigeration systems with HFC/HFO and CO2 refrigerants.
Position Description
The Refrigeration Application Engineer’s responsibility is to translate customers refrigeration requirements into equipment that can be sold, installed and maintained by Climate Solutions companies. This encompasses assembly of refrigeration loads, specifying & sourcing equipment to meet these requirements with customers or internal specifications, and provide engineering required for installation drawings.
To succeed in this position, candidates need exceptional interpersonal skills to form a rapport with internal and external team members, strong organizational ability to complete tasks on multiple projects, and the ability to learn, retain, and repeat a wide variety of engineering tasks.
Main Responsibilities
Assemble refrigeration requirements from store plans or drawings with lookup of refrigerated case data and calculation of loads for walk-ins for cold storage.
Specify and source equipment from established supplier partners for required loads that meets customer, internal and industry specifications.
Provide submittal information on equipment for incorporation into refrigeration drawings or MEP set including weights, dimensions, and electrical requirements.
Generate equipment and installation quotes for sales presentation.
Provides complete project information to the project management team including equipment quotations, installation budget, expected construction times, and preliminary schedule.
· Review refrigeration drawings and equipment production drawings for accuracy and insure specifications match.
Stay current on refrigeration regulations for refrigerants and specifications.
Perform energy use calculations and comparisons for different equipment types.
Develop and expand supplier relationships for equipment.
Develops key subcontractor relationships for areas not serviced by Climate companies which may offer equipment sales opportunities.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or similar program, or commensurate experience with refrigeration equipment
Understand refrigeration systems and their components.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills
Problem solving and decision-making skills needed for a fast-paced environment.
Ability to travel up to 10%
Experience with Excel
AutoCAD or Revitt experience helpful.
