Full-time Flight Instructors are eligible for an excellent benefits package including tuition remission, paid holidays, vacation and sick time, and a retirement match.Position Summary:The University of Dubuque is seeking a dedicated and student-focused Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) to support its nationally recognized Aviation Department. This position is ideal for a professional who is passionate about aviation education, committed to safety, and eager to contribute to the development of future aviation leaders in a structured collegiate environment. This role offers a unique opportunity to be part of a growing aviation program with a modern fleet, advanced simulation technology, and a strong emphasis on professionalism, leadership, and safety.Primary Responsibilities:Meet training standards and all applicable 14 CFR Part 141 or 61 training requirementsPerform all flight instructor-related responsibilities in relation to training requirementsMentor and guide students as it relates to their career and professional goalsEnsure aircraft is appropriately signed out, airworthy and serviceable for any flightEnsure that all weather and other conditions stated in the Aviation Safety & Operations Manual are met for Flight trainingSupport the Director of Aviation Safety to ensure compliance with SMS requirementsEngage in life-long learning and scholarship opportunities to continuously enhance the Aviation Program and furtherance of the safety cultureMonitor student progress and develop action plan to keep students on paceWork with Application Support Manager to document action plansPerform other duties as assigned in support of the University's MissionSkills and Abilities:Effective communication skills; both orally and writtenStrong situational awareness and risk management practicesCommitment to maintaining a culture of safety and complianceExceptional skills using Microsoft OfficeStrong mentoring and leadership abilitiesQualifications:Diploma Required; Undergraduate Degree Preferred, in AviationValid driver's licenseCFI-I/MEI preferred100 hours dual preferredCurrent FAA Flight Instructor - Airplane certificate, flight review, and medicalThis position is part of an ongoing talent pool.
