(EII) based in Lafayette, Indiana (just 20 minutes away from Purdue University) has been a premier provider of postal automation since 2006. EII is a small but growing dynamic company looking for highly motivated individuals to join its engineering team. The engineering team is responsible for the design, construction, testing, maintenance, and documentation of world-class postal automation equipment as well as assisting in defining the overall product direction.\n\nWe are currently seeking an Associate QA / Software Engineer, which is a part-time position for an engineering student or recent graduate. This position will be a hands-on engineering internship where you will design, build, test, and learn—while working alongside experienced engineers on real products and real problems.\n\nWe at Engineering Innovation strive to ensure that our relationship with our students/recent graduates is mutually beneficial and that they walk away from the experience with new-found knowledge and skills they can apply in their careers. This is a paid (part-time) position.\nWhat You’ll Do\nAs an Associate QA / Software Engineering Intern, you’ll gain hands-on experience testing, analyzing, and developing the software that drives EII’s equipment and applications. You’ll work closely with experienced engineers to support both quality assurance and software development efforts.\nQuality Assurance + Software Testing\nWrite and execute test cases for EII’s equipment and software applications\nUse virtual machines (VMs) to test across multiple environments\nPerform functional, regression, and exploratory testing\nIdentify, reproduce, and document software defects\nWork directly with engineers to verify fixes and improvements\n\nSoftware Development\nDevelop automated test scripts and tools to improve testing efficiency\nBuild applications that automatically test production software\nContribute to internal utilities and workflow improvements\nLearn modern software development practices and participate in code reviews\n\nDocumentation + System Analysis\nDocument procedures, test results, and troubleshooting steps\nCreate diagrams for prototype system setup (network diagrams, wiring diagrams, etc.)\nDocument software and system component interactions (activity diagrams, sequence diagrams, flowcharts)\nMaintain clear, organized documentation for future engineering reference\n\nWhat You Bring - We’re looking for a motivated student who enjoys problem‑solving, learning new tools, and contributing to real software projects.\nSuccessful candidates have:\nAbility to work the following:\nDuring the Spring/Fall Semesters: a minimum of 20 hours/week (Monday – Friday, no nights or weekends)\nDuring the Summer: a minimum of 32 hours/week (Monday – Friday, no nights or weekends)\nProgramming experience with one or more of the following: Python, C, C#, or C++\nExperience with Windows and/or Linux (especially Debian‑based systems)\nStrong problem‑solving and analytical skills\nClear communication and attention to detail\nCuriosity, willingness to learn, and comfort working in a team environment\n\nBonus Skills (Not Required!) - Experience in any of the following is helpful, but not required—we’ll teach you what you don’t know:\nMicrosoft SQL Server or basic SQL\nAmazon AWS (EC2, S3, basic networking)\nAtlassian: Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket\nMicrosoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio\nWeb/UI automation: Selenium WebDriver, Playwright, Cypress, Puppeteer, TestComplete\nAPI testing: Postman (collections/automation), REST Assured, SoapUI / ReadyAPI\nCompany Description\nEngineering Innovation, Inc.
