Medical is seeking an experienced, hands-on Controller to lead and oversee our accounting team, monthly close, financial audit and accounting compliance, supporting cash management, and providing strategic accounting support for M&A and integrations for our growing multi-state ambulance and medical transportation organization.\n\nReporting to the CFO, this role is a truly unique opportunity to help shape the accounting function, processes, systems and integrations as the business continues to grow — not simply stepping into a finished model.\n\nRole and Responsibilities\n\nAccounting & Reporting\n\nOwn the monthly, quarterly, and annual close and financial statement preparation.\nEnsure accurate, timely, and well-supported reporting across multiple entities.\nOversee general ledger, reconciliations, accruals, AP, fixed assets, intercompany accounting, and consolidations.\nMaintain appropriate accounting policies and consistent application of GAAP.\nPartner with the CFO and Revenue Cycle leadership on revenue accounting, provisioning, reserves, collection assumptions, and other significant estimates.\nResearch and resolve complex or judgmental accounting matters.\n\nTeam, Processes & Controls\n\nLead, develop, and establish accountability within the accounting team.\nAssess capabilities, responsibilities, workload, and future staffing needs.\nStrengthen accounting processes, reconciliations, documentation, controls, and account ownership.\nBuild scalable, repeatable processes and reduce unnecessary manual work or reliance on individuals.\nDevelop an accounting organization capable of supporting continued growth and acquisitions.\n\nAudit\n\nLead accounting preparation and execution of the external financial statement audit.\nServe as a primary accounting contact for external auditors.\nEstablish ongoing audit readiness through strong reconciliations, documentation, schedules, and controls.\n\nERP, Systems & Data\n\nPartner with the CFO in defining the future-state financial systems environment.\nHave significant input into the evaluation and selection of WLRC's future ERP, including requirements, vendor evaluation, and system capabilities.\nHelp define the accounting framework the ERP must support, including multi-entity structure, chart of accounts, consolidations, controls, reporting, workflows, and integrations.\nPlay a significant leadership role in implementation, process design, data conversion, testing, controls, and adoption.\nImprove financial-data consistency, integration, and automation across the organization.\n\nBusiness Partnership & Growth\n\nDevelop strong relationships across Leadership, Billing, Operations, Payroll, People, Compliance, and other functions.\nUnderstand the operational drivers behind financial results and ensure they are appropriately reflected in the financial statements.\nSupport accounting integration of acquisitions and new entities.\nIdentify accounting, process, and control risks early and drive practical solutions.\nCollaborates with other divisions and departments to carry out the organization's goals and objectives.\n\nPreferred Skills\n\nActive CPA license preferred\nMulti-entity accounting, consolidation, and intercompany experience\nCurrent or previous Controller, Assistant Controller, Senior Accounting Manager, or comparable accounting leadership experience\nExperience in a rapidly growing or acquisition-driven organization\nExperience with significant estimates, reserves, revenue recognition, or other judgment-intensive accounting\nERP implementation or significant accounting-systems improvement experience\nExperience in integrating acquired businesses\n\nQualifications and Education Requirements\n\nBachelor’s degree in accounting or related field\n5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with demonstrated growth in responsibility\n3+ years leading accounting teams\nStrong technical accounting and GAAP foundation\nSignificant ownership of the financial close and external audit process\nDemonstrated success building and/or improving accounting teams, processes, and internal controls\nExperience working in a complex operating environment\nHands-on leadership style with strong analytical judgment and learning agility\nMust be 18 years or older\nAbility to lift up to 25 pounds\nAbility to pass pre-employment drug test.\nAbility to pass a pre-employment background check\nAbility to read, speak, and write English\n\nWe'd love to have you
