This is your opportunity to influence portfolio performance, shape market strategies, and make a meaningful impact in the commercial insurance landscape.What You’ll Do:Drive profitable growth by achieving underwriting and production goals across your assigned territoryEvaluate and underwrite new business submissions by analyzing risk and making informed decisions on quoting or declining accountsSet pricing strategies and recommend coverages to optimize risk and enhance competitivenessApply underwriting authority responsibly, exercising sound judgment and managing exceptions effectivelyAnalyze agency portfolios to identify trends, risks, and growth opportunities; develop targeted strategies to improve profitability and portfolio qualityCultivate strong agency partnerships through exceptional service, communication, and strategic collaborationPartner with agents and Business Development Representatives to uncover opportunities and support growth initiativesExecute agency visitation plans to deepen relationships and maximize resultsResearch, diagnose, and resolve complex underwriting issues with clear, actionable solutionsStay informed on industry trends, market conditions, and competitor activity to refine Travel as needed within Massachusetts to maintain strong agency connections and business growthRequired Skills:Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience4–6 years of Commercial Lines underwriting experience (or 6–8 years with an Associate degree or equivalent)Deep knowledge of insurance industry practices, underwriting principles, and risk evaluation for complex accountsProven ability to make sound decisions within broad authority using analytical judgmentDemonstrated success in managing agency relationships, negotiating, and delivering high-quality serviceExcellent communication, organization, and time management capabilitiesExperience mentoring or guiding colleagues and technical prowess in underwritingNice to Have Skills:Professional designations such as AU, CPCU, or CICExperience in reinsurance, filings, or industry-specific committeesStrategic mindset focused on long-term portfolio performance and profitabilityAbility to balance underwriting discipline with growth initiatives and relationship managementImportant Details:Location: Remote position that requires travel up 50% of the time.
