This position requires extensive Java development experience, strong knowledge of SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) and the Cloud Application Programming Model (CAP), and a commitment to software quality and maintainable code.Key ResponsibilitiesEnsure application features are delivered on schedule and meet functional specifications, SAP product standards, quality criteria, and project milestones.Lead backend development using Java, REST/CXF, Spring Boot, CAP, and SQL.Participate in requirements reviews, technical design development, peer reviews, test scenario evaluations, and code reviews.Translate product roadmap features into modular and scalable technical designs in collaboration with the Team Architect and Product Manager.Develop automated unit tests to maximize code coverage.Execute automated functional testing for positive and negative scenarios.Troubleshoot internal defects and customer-reported issues, implementing reliable fixes within defined service-level agreements.Support the full product development and deployment lifecycle, from initial planning and prototyping through delivery and continuous iteration.Apply software design principles and enterprise architecture practices to develop effective backend services.Implement secure authentication and authorization mechanisms using relevant industry protocols.Required QualificationsAt least eight years of professional software development experience, including hands-on technical leadership.Strong backend development experience with Java, REST/CXF, Spring Boot, and other MVC-based frameworks.Hands-on experience with SAP BTP and CAP, including SAPUI5, OData, and CAP CDS.Deep understanding of software design patterns, enterprise architecture, and data structures.Extensive experience developing web APIs and applying API-first design principles, including Swagger, REST APIs, or GraphQL.Experience with SAP HANA DB and at least one other relational database management system, supported by strong SQL skills.Experience with development and DevOps tools such as GitHub, Jenkins, Selenium, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Puppet, and Chef.Familiarity with Confluence, Jira, JUnit, Karate, Postman, Qmate, qTest, and Selenium.Familiarity with major cloud platforms, including AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Microsoft Azure.Strong knowledge and practical implementation experience with OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, and SAML.English proficiency at B2 level or higher, with strong written and spoken communication skills.Preferred QualificationsExperience implementing third-party login integrations is a significant advantage.Compensation and BenefitsAnnual base salary range: $135,000–$173,000.Subsidized medical, dental, and vision insurance.Health Savings Account and Flexible Spending Accounts for healthcare, dependent care, and commuting expenses.Company-provided short-term and long-term disability coverage.Company-provided life and accidental death and dismemberment insurance.Employee Assistance Program.Access to LinkedIn Learning.Matched 401(k) retirement savings plan.Paid time off, with eligibility to accrue 15–25 days depending on level and tenure.Nine paid holidays per year.Legal plan and identity theft protection.Accident insurance, employee discounts, and pet insurance.Employee Stock Purchase Program.Eligibility for discretionary annual bonuses and, for qualifying roles, the Long-Term Incentive Program.Individual salary offers depend on factors including location, experience, credentials, education, training, role demand, and market conditions.Location and Work ArrangementRemote work is available only for candidates located in New York City.Additional Employment InformationApplications are accepted on a rolling basis.EPAM will not provide new H-1B visa sponsorship for this position.
