Patient Escort / Full Time / Days / 9a-530p / 40 hrs
The Patient Escort is responsible for supporting the Mission and Vision of Crittenton Hospital Medical Center (CHMC) by under limited supervision, and in accordance with established policies and procedures, transports patients within the Hospital and other facilities. Responsibilities: Essential Functions| Maintains a positive and professional atmosphere for patients. Demonstrates interpersonal skills necessary in order to interact effectively with patients who may be under physical or emotional stress.| Transports or escorts patients by wheelchair, stretcher, bed or ambulatory means at scheduled times, or as needed, to and from areas throughout the hospital for testing, treatment, and nursing unit transfers. Ensures patient safety and prevents injuries by using proper lifting techniques, and applying body mechanics principles. Logs patients in and out of departments.| Cleans and maintains transportation equipment on a daily basis to avoid injury to patients or hospital personnel.| Moves beds, carts, and other hospital equipment. Return equipment to designated areas.| Delivers specimens, blood and blood products, patient charts, and other patient materials to hospital departments or other areas.| Checks proper identification of patient before transport.| Promotes guest relations; anticipates and responds to needs of others; provides assistance in a courteous, quick manner;, treat others with care respect, while maintaining privacy, confidentiality and dignity. Maintains a professional appearance and a clean, safe work environment.| Cooperates with all department personnel in a positive and professional manner.| Observe safety precautions; side rails up during transport, call light within reach, bed in lower position.| Non-Essential Functions: Maintains a professional appearance by adhering to Dress Code Policy.| Performs special projects and duties as assigned.| This position requires the ability to identify age related differences within the persons served and the adjustment of treatment style and expectations as appropriate, including adjustments based on the person's served cognitive function and learning ability. This will include taking into account their religious and cultural needs and preferences.
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
Successful completion of the Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support class at time of hire/transfer date required.
Education: - High School Diploma or GED required. No additional preferences.
