Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures. Performs simple tests to verify production/process conditions. Maintains operating records and reports of test results. Operate or tend one or more types of cutting or forming machine tools. May include such machine tools as band saws, chop saws, hand sanders, and a variety of hand tools.\nKey Responsibilities\nOperate machines to cut, shape, drill, or mill non- metallic material\nRead job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements\nAlign layout marks with die or blade. Set machine stops or guides to specified length as indicated by scale, rule or\ntemplate. Install machine components, such as chucks or cutting tools, according to specifications\nRemove burrs or sharp edges from work piece, using file, hand grinder, wire brush, or power tools. Verify conformance to specifications\nExamine completed work pieces for defects, such as chipped edges and marred surfaces, and sort defective pieces\naccording to defect\nPerform minor machine maintenance, such as oiling or cleaning machines, dies, or work pieces, or adding coolant to machine reservoir\nOther duties as assigned\nSeeks advice and guidance on non routine or problem areas from supervisor. Deviations from the norm are cleared by the supervisor\nQualifications:\nHS Diploma or GED required. 0-2 years of experience in area of responsibility\nSelects correct processes from clearly prescribed rules, past practices or instruction\nPhysical Demands\nFrequently required to stand\nFrequently required to walk\nContinually required to sit\nContinually required to utilize hand and finger dexterity\nOccasionally balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crawl\nContinually required to talk or hear\nContinually utilize visual acuity to read technical information and/or use a keyboard\nOccasionally required to lift/push/carry items up to 25 pounds\nOccasionally work near moving mechanical parts\nOccasionally work around fumes, airborne particles, or toxic chemicals\nOccasionally exposure to outside weather conditions\nOccasionally loud noise (examples: shop tool noises, electric motors, moving mechanical equipment)\nWork Environment\nThis role operates in a professional office environment with flexibility for hybrid work.
