UCI Health serves a region of nearly 4 million people in Orange County, western Riverside County and southeast Los Angeles County.ResponsibilitiesPosition Summary:Incumbent schedules clinic patients for surgery, verifies the patient has a source of funding to cover surgery, and ensures that all required medical documentation is completed prior to surgery. Acts as a liaison between the clinic, admissions, operating room, physician, and patient to effectively communicate the surgery schedule, as well as any changes which arise.QualificationsRequired Qualifications:Previous experience with computer registration and registration scheduling systemMust possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned dutiesMust demonstrate general understanding of medical terminologyMust demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the jobMust be able to travel to off site physician practicesMinimum one (1) year recent experience (within past two (2) years) registering patients in a hospital or clinic, working as a Medical Assistant, or working in medical billingGeneral knowledge of ICD9 and CPT codesExcellent written and verbal communication skills in EnglishDemonstrated experience using MS OfficeAbility to work weekends, holidays, and eveningsAbility to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workloadAbility to interpret and understand various medical insurance plans and make accurate determinations regarding coverageAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health SystemPreferred Qualifications:Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and formsFamiliarity of Joint Commission standardsExperience with EpicExperience in surgical schedulingBilingual in English and SpanishTotal RewardsWe offer a wealth of benefits to make working at UCI even more rewarding.
