The Technician II – Structured Cabling will coordinate small groups of installers in the performance of daily workload including adherence to Company safety and quality standards.\r\nJob Duties and Responsibilities\r\nThe Technician II – Structured Cabling will install a work area outlet for floor or wall (terminate CAT 3 & CAT 5 jacks, mount face plates and surface mount boxes correctly, adhere to IES COMMERCIAL labeling standards).\r\nThe Technician II – Structured Cabling will build closets (mount and install backboards, cross connects, racks, patch panels, fiber optic and hardware), install grounding for racks, equipment and cable as required, complete all IDC connections (e.g., terminate 110/66 blocks and patch panels).\r\nThe Technician II – Structured Cabling will perform testing: continuity test horizontal and riser cable; use of volt-Ohmmeter; troubleshoot opens, crosses, shorts, and transpose pairs on horizontal and riser cable.\r\nThe Technician II – Structured Cabling will identify active voice or data circuits.\r\nThe Technician II – Structured Cabling will assume responsibility for effective performance of crew and provide necessary training, coordinate personnel and timeline to complete project.\r\nThe Technician II – Structured Cabling willly complete all IES Communications paperwork accurately and on time (timesheets, material transfers, work orders, change orders, tool transfers and others as required).\r\nThe Technician II – Structured Cabling will adhere to and participate in all Company, customer and industry quality and safety standards and regulations.\r\nQualifications\r\nPhysical and Mental Requirements\r\nThe Technician II – Structured Cabling must be self-motivated, positive in approach, professional and help create, develop, and implement project process improvement(s).\r\nThe Technician II – Structured Cabling must promote the Company culture and mission to all employees, vendors, clients, and business partners.\r\nThe Technician II – Structured Cabling must act as the Company liaison for interface with customer representative(s).\r\nThe Technician II – Structured Cabling must possess proven problem-solving skills, critical thinking skills and the ability to effectively read and write.\r\nThe Technician II – Structured Cabling must be able to work at heights, on a ladder and in confined spaces, lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds.\r\nAbility to endure long periods of standing, walking, or working in inclement weather and possession of sufficient physical strength and agility to lift and move heavy objects.\r\nThe Technician II – Structured Cabling must be able to see and distinguish different colors, read small print and hear and recognize audible signals such as dial tones.\r\nThe Technician II – Structured Cabling must be able to travel within the branch territory and/or regional territory as needed.\r\nRegular attendance is mandatory.\r\nMust have adequate transportation to get to the jobsite.\r\nTools\r\nScrewdriver (regular and Phillips), drywall saw, torpedo level, tape measure, snips (with belt sheath), pliers (needle nose and channel locks), hammer, wrench set, cable stripper, flashlight and gloves.\r\nTrade Tools: Punch tool with 110 block and 66 block blade, 6/8 position combo crimp tool.\r\nEducation, Certification, License, and Skill Requirements:\r\nMust possess at least a High School diploma or GED equivalency.\r\nMust possess a minimum of two (2) years of experience in telecommunications or related technical field and demonstrate the ability to supervise others.\r\nMust possess and be proficient with the listed tools.\r\nMust have proven skill level to interpret blueprints and other project documents, including but not limited to specifications, reporting, and quality requirements.\r\nMust know the universal communications color codes.\r\nMust meet Company minimum driving standards.\r\nMinimum Years of Experience: 6+\r\nLicense Required: No\r\nMinimum Education: High School\r\nOverview\r\nIES is a national provider of industrial products and infrastructure services to a variety of end markets, including electrical, mechanical and communications contracting solutions for the commercial, industrial, residential and renewable energy markets.
