Next Gen's mission is to become your company of choice by providing integrity, professionalism and a commitment to your individual growth.\nYOUR NEW ROLE:\n\nThe Dredging Deckhand’s primary duties are associated with the operation of the dredge, support vessels and project site equipment. This is not a live-on dredge. We provide per diem, and employees are responsible for their lodging and meals.\n\nROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES\nSecure mooring lines to the dredge, scows, dredge tender or attending plant\nSplice and repair cables and towing ropes\nAssist with the lubrication of deck machinery\nLoad and unload materials from the dredge, deck barges, scows and miscellaneous dredging equipment\nSweep and wash down all decks on the dredge and attending plant\nChip and paint decks and superstructure of the dredge\nAssist with work on the pontoon line, submerge line, scow or attending plant\nAssist with work on the anchors and spud systems\nAssist with cleaning of the pump and work on the cutter head\nAbide by company and worksite safety policies\n\nQUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS\nMinimum of 1 year of satisfactory dredging experience.\nThe position requires 12-hour workdays 7 days a week.\n\nWillingness to travel and work in remote jobsite locations for extended periods.\nMust be reliable and motivated.\n\nMust possess a valid driver’s license and the ability to maintain a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record. ·\nMust be able to work outside for entire shift in all weather conditions (hot, humid, cold, wet) required.\nMust be authorized to work in the US.\nDrug screening and background check required.\nHigh School diploma or equivalent preferred\nAbility to work 84-hour work week\nAbility to understand hand signals and verbal commands in English\n\nPHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS\n\nThe employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable workplace accommodation.\nThe individual must also be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work or visit within areas where it is required.\nThis includes hard hat, safety glasses, life vest, respirators, ear plugs, steel toed shoes, personal flotation devices (PFD’s), or other protective equipment as required by the work performed and location the work is being done.
