Student Employee – School of Agricultural Sciences – AGET Research Assistant Pay: $10 per hour. Hours: Up to 20 hours per week. Responsibilities Read a tape measure accurately. Lift or move 50 pounds without personal injury. Work 20 hours per week Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Safely work alone or in groups. Safely sweep, clean, and organize the laboratory. Safely work independently with minimal supervision. Follow instructions and complete satisfactory work results. Wear personal protective equipment while in hazardous environments (e.g., safety glasses, appropriate dress and footwear, hearing protection, gloves). Requirements Must be able to safely drive a truck, secure cargo, and pull a trailer. Must be experienced in safely operating a forklift and hand truck/pallet jack. Will be required to operate an Oxygen Fuel Cutting torch, Gas Metal Arc Welding, and Shielded Metal Arc Welding machine. Will clean and brush paint on wood and metal objects. Will design and construct wood and metal objects. Organize the laboratory and tool rooms. Must have a valid driver's license. Qualifications 18 years or older. Current SHSU student.
