If you are highly motivated and interested in tackling the most challenging problems, we’d love to hear from you.\nWe are looking for a hands-on Mechanical Engineer to design, prototype, build, test, and iterate mechanical and electromechanical systems. In this role, you will work closely with technicians on the shop floor, contributing across mechanical design, thermal management, drone hardware, rapid prototyping, and vendor coordination. This is a startup environment where you will be expected to move quickly from concept to CAD to prototype to manufacturing.\nWHAT YOU’LL DO\nDesign mechanical parts and assemblies in 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred), including prototype parts, fixtures, brackets, mounts, enclosures, heatsinks, cooling plates, and mechanical structures.\nDesign for 3D printing, CNC machining, sheet metal, laser cutting, and other practical fabrication methods.\nDFM analysis on existing prototype designs to ensure manufacturability and the transfer to production.\nPrepare CAD models, drawings, STEP/STL files, BOMs, maintain version control and build documentation.\nSupport rapid prototyping using in-house 3D printers and external fabrication resources.\nDesign compact assemblies integrating PCBs, connectors, wiring, heatsinks, fans, pumps, tubing, thermal pads, fasteners, and enclosures.\nDesign thermal solutions including heatsinks, airflow paths, cold plates, water cooling loops, and thermal interfaces, including performing basic mechanical and thermal calculations to guide design decisions.\nEvaluate mechanical strength, stiffness, vibration, weight, manufacturability, and thermal performance.\nWork with electronics and power hardware, including safe mechanical integration of batteries, power electronics, mains wiring, cable routing, strain relief, and connectors.\nSupport drone-related mechanical design, including frames, motor mounts, payload mounts, vibration isolation, battery mounting, and lightweight structures.\nCoordinate with technicians on prototype assembly, test setup, and hands-on build activities.\nWork with vendors, machine shops, 3D printing services, and suppliers to source and fabricate parts and perform incoming inspection.\nTroubleshoot mechanical, thermal, electrical integration, and assembly issues in hardware prototypes.\nREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS\nMust be a US Person (US Citizen or Permanent Resident).\nBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.\nProficiency in SolidWorks or similar tools (Fusion, Onshape, FreeCAD, ...) and strong 3D CAD skills; ability to design practical parts and assemblies that have actually been built, printed, machined, or assembled.\nGood understanding of mechanical design fundamentals: tolerances, fits, fasteners, materials, stiffness, strength, and manufacturability.\nComfortable with rapid prototyping, 3D printing, and hands-on iteration.\nBasic thermal design understanding: heat transfer, heatsinks, airflow, thermal interface materials, and temperature rise.\nComfortable working around electronics and integrating designs with PCBs, wiring, connectors, batteries, and power electronics.\nAbility to work from incomplete requirements and iterate quickly in a fast-paced startup environment.\nStrong attention to detail and practical problem-solving ability.\nPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS\nExperience designing heatsinks, cold plates, liquid cooling loops, fan-cooled assemblies, or other thermal management systems.\nExperience with drones, UAVs, multicopters, motor mounts, payload systems, vibration isolation, or flight hardware.\nExperience with carbon fiber, composite structures, 3D scanning and printed structural parts, or lightweight frame design.\nExperience with power electronics packaging, high-current wiring, batteries, motors, or thermal design for electronics.\nExperience with CNC machining, sheet metal, injection molding, or production DFM.\nFEA/simulation experience (Solidworks, CalculiX or similar).\nExperience with test equipment such as thermal cameras, thermocouples, anemometers, load cells, vibration sensors, or data acquisition systems.\nExperience in a startup, R&D lab, robotics company, drone company, or hardware prototyping environment.\nExperience designing/building high-reliability products for Aerospace, Automotive or similar industries.\nComfortable using open-source and AI tools to optimize designs.\nWORKING AT GURU\nWe offer a dynamic and collaborative work environment where you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on our products.
