Job Description:Title: Non-Credit Professional Training Course Instructors Center for Smart Building TechnologyUnit: Non-Unit ContractDepartment: Center for Smart Building TechnologyReports to: Dean of Workforce and Business DevelopmentThe Center for Smart Building Technology (C4SBT) is a regional leader in clean energy workforce training, offering hands-on, employer-driven programs in Building Automation Systems (BAS), Energy Auditing, Building Science, HVAC-R & Heat Pump Technologies, and Drone Technology for energy compliance. Our state-of-the-art living lab allows students and instructors to work directly with real systems and emerging technologies.The C4SBT is seeking experienced, dynamic industry professionals to join our instructional team for non-credit professional training programs. If you are an expert in your field with a passion for sharing your knowledge, shaping the next generation of clean energy and building technology professionals, and making a tangible impact on the workforce, we want to hear from you.Instructors are responsible for delivering engaging, high-quality instruction that blends technical expertise with real-world application. They will assess student outcomes and maintain current, industry-relevant knowledge to ensure training aligns with professional standards and practices.We accept course proposals on a rolling basis and are especially interested in instructors for:HVAC-R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration) - Installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of systems that control indoor climate and refrigeration, including residential, commercial, and industrial applications.Building Operations - Management and oversight of daily building functions, including HVAC, lighting, electrical, plumbing, and other systems, to ensure efficiency, comfort, safety, and regulatory compliance.Building Automation Systems (BAS) / Building Controls / Energy Management - Integration and operation of automated control systems that monitor and manage building systems for optimal performance, energy efficiency, and occupant comfort.Building Science - Study and application of principles related to how buildings interact with environmental factors such as heat, air, and moisture, with a focus on energy efficiency, indoor air quality, and building durability.BPI (Building Performance Institute) - Industry-recognized training and certification in building science, energy auditing, and home performance, focusing on energy efficiency, indoor air quality, and building envelope diagnostics.BOC (Building Operator Certification) - Comprehensive credentialing for building operations professionals, covering energy-efficient building maintenance, HVAC systems, lighting, electrical systems, controls, and facility management best practices.EPA 608 (Environmental Protection Agency Section 608 Certification) - Federal certification required for HVAC/R technicians who handle refrigerants, covering safe refrigerant handling, recovery, recycling, leak detection, and compliance with environmental regulations.Blueprint Reading - Interpretation of technical drawings, schematics, and plans for construction, mechanical, and electrical systems.Drone FAA License & Technology - Training in unmanned aircraft operation, safety protocols, aerial imaging, mapping, and compliance with FAA Part 107 requirements.Emergency Management - Planning, preparedness, and response strategies for natural disasters, building system failures, and other emergency scenarios, with an emphasis on safety and continuity of operations.OSHA & Workplace Safety - Instruction on occupational safety regulations, hazard recognition, and safe work practices in compliance with OSHA standards.We encourage applicants to submit a resume and syllabus for existing programs and courses, or to propose new, in-demand topics that align with industry trends and emerging technologies.Duties & Responsibilities:Maintain a consistent and reliable teaching scheduleAssess and evaluate student performance in accordance with program standardsKeep accurate attendance, grading, and performance records in compliance with college policies and accrediting/licensing bodiesCommunicate regularly and effectively with Center for Workforce Development staffUpdate course descriptions and syllabi as needed to reflect current industry practicesCommunicate effectively with Center for Smart Building Technology and Workforce Development staff to support student success and program qualityIf applicable, maintain inventory of instructional tools, equipment, and supplies;
