The research assistant will assist the research team with all aspects of the study including participant recruitment, retention, data collection and management.\n\nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS\n\nPlan and carry out projects in accordance with general plans. Recruit participants and collect study data during on-site subject visits at community locations as outlined in the study protocol. Conduct a series of research activities to supply scientific information as part of a larger project by conducting follow-up interviews with participants to obtain additional and/or clarifying information. (35%)\n\nBuild and establish relationships with participants and community site staff to ensure successful completion of study objectives. Maintain communication with study subjects, aiding in participant retention, to obtain scheduled visit details for completion of follow-up in-person study visits. (20%)\n\nMonitor data collection activities for the study. Oversee data entry of participant responses into the database, audit entered data, perform quality control to ensure that data is entered correctly and assist with data analysis. (15%)\n\nPartner with other research staff to develop and maintain updates of protocols and manual of procedures (MOP) for the study. (10%)\n\nCollect and analyze data from interview surveys and compile summary data for weekly project meetings, progress reports, IRB submissions, presentations and manuscript submissions. Develop materials for professional and public presentations of the results. (10%)\n\nWork with the principal investigator and research operations manager to implement and ensure compliance with study protocols. May assist in developing improved techniques, projection methods or procedures for scheduling, tracking and completing subject visits. (6%)\n\nNONESSENTIAL FUNCITONS\n\nTrain new staff or work study students on policies and procedures. (2%)\n\nOversee inventory of study materials to ensure all items are stocked and available when needed (2%)\n\nPerform other duties as assigned. Monthly interaction with department administrative staff regarding research operations.\n\nUniversity: Occasional interaction with co-investigators to exchange research information.\n\nExternal: Daily interaction with study participants for recruitment, study and follow up visits. Weekly contact with community site staff in order to arrange appointments and communicate scheduling. Occasional contact with site participants.\n\nStudents: May have occasional contact with work study students to train on research procedures and direct work.\n\nSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES\nThis position has no direct supervision of staff employees. May share in the training of new staff and direct the work of students.\n\nQUALIFICAITONS\nEducation/Experience/Licensing: Bachelor's degree and 1 to 3 years of related experience or Associate's degree in an approved biotechnology program and 2 to 4 years of experience required. Major in clinical science, social science, epidemiology or related field preferred. Experience in a health related field preferred.
