{"schemaVersion":"jobsearcher.job.v1","id":"4f3cb7aa114b2b11e02a29f0","url":"https://jobsearcher.com/jobs/4f3cb7aa114b2b11e02a29f0","canonicalUrl":"https://jobsearcher.com/jobs/4f3cb7aa114b2b11e02a29f0","title":"Azure Cloud Engineer","description":"Luna Data Solutions is seeking an Azure Cloud Engineer for a long term hybrid contract opportunity in Austin.\nLong term contract, 12 months initially and should extend in 12 month increments\nThis role requires onsite presence 4–5 days per week.\nCandidates must reside in the Austin area at time of submittal (not looking for candidates that need to relocate if offered)\nResponsibilities\nWill support team by modernizing, operating, and monitoring its Microsoft Azure cloud environment.\nThe work includes transitioning workloads from a legacy Azure implementation into a standardized, secure, and governed Azure Cloud Landing Zone, while providing comprehensive Azure cloud monitoring and operational support.\nThe engineer will assess existing Azure resources, remediate configuration gaps, and assist with migrating subscriptions and workloads using approved Azure architecture patterns and Infrastructure as Code.\nThe role will implement and maintain Azure monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions to provide visibility into system performance, availability, security posture, and cost management.\nAdditional work includes proactive monitoring, incident response, root cause analysis, and coordination with multiple groups including Shared Technology Services teams to ensure stable and compliant Azure operations.\nWill develop and maintain technical documentation, dashboards, and operational runbooks to support reliable, well governed Azure services aligned with internal enterprise cloud strategy.\nRequired Background\n5+ years of experience in cloud engineering, infrastructure engineering, or related IT roles.\nHands on experience supporting Microsoft Azure, including experience in Azure Government (Azure.gov) environments or other regulated cloud platforms.\nExperience implementing and supporting Azure infrastructure components such as compute, networking, storage, identity, and security services.\nExperience with Azure monitoring and logging to support performance, availability, security visibility, and incident response.\nExperience assisting with cloud migrations or modernization efforts, including moving workloads into standardized cloud environments such as an Azure Cloud Landing Zone.\nExperience using Infrastructure as Code (e.g., ARM templates, Bicep, Terraform).\nWorking knowledge of cloud security best practices, vulnerability remediation, and compliance requirements.\nExperience supporting operational activities including monitoring, incident response, and root cause analysis.\nAbility to work independently in a structured enterprise or government environment.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills, including technical documentation.\nPreferred Skills and Qualifications\nDirect experience working in Azure Government (Azure.gov) supporting state or federal workloads.\nFamiliarity with State of Texas DIR Shared Technology Services (STS) standards, processes, and governance.\nExperience supporting or implementing an Azure Landing Zone in a government or highly regulated environment.\nKnowledge of DIR security standards.\nExperience with hybrid cloud environments integrating on premises systems with Azure Government.\nAzure certifications (e.g., Azure Administrator Associate, Azure Security Engineer Associate).\nWhat Luna Data Offers\nCompetitive compensation and benefits, including health, dental, vision, life, accident, and disability insurance.\nGreat work-life balance.\nWork on high profile projects.\nThis is a contract opportunity based in Austin, TX and no sponsorship can be provided.
