DescriptionAmazon Publishing is looking for a results-oriented Production Manager to support the creation of its physical and e-books in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will be well-organized and metrics-driven, with a strong bias for action and ability to independently drive end-to-end book creation processes while maintaining high standards and a strong author and customer focus.This position works closely with editorial, design, marketing, publicity, and operations as well as with external vendors to ensure our books reach market on schedule and at the highest quality levels.Key job responsibilitiesSupporting and tracking day-to-day production workflows, ensuring processes are documented, efficient, streamlined, and that books are produced at the highest qualityEstablishing priorities, identifying and communicating risks and mitigation plans in collaboration with stakeholders; developing and maintaining production milestones and completion datesManaging production schedules and files: supervise production progress and review files for quality issues to ensure deadlines are met throughout all phases of book productionMaintaining vendor relationships: manage communication, oversee and review quality of work, and facilitate issue resolutionIngesting and archiving files using internal systemsChampioning new technologies, collaborations, and improved processes to define, leverage and implement best content production and delivery practices including continuous improvements in quality, cost reduction, production time, and pipeline capacityUsing operational metrics to drive process improvement and efficiencies with a focus on creating scalable systemsThe successful candidate must have the ability to manage multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment while maintaining high standards of quality and a strong author and customer focus.Basic Qualifications2+ years of program or project management experienceBachelor's degree or equivalent2+ years of data-driven business operations processes experienceExperience in editing, copy-editing, and proofreadingPreferred QualificationsExperience managing multiple projects and meeting aggressive deadlinesExperience with process improvement techniques such as Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing or Six SigmaExperience with MS Office Professional Suite, including intermediate knowledge of Excel to manipulate and analyze dataCan show excellent decision-making capabilities under pressureExperience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadershipExperience in oral and written communicationFamiliarity with print and digital book production processes and technologyAmazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
