Pursuing or has obtained professional licensure (PE).\n6+ years of relevant experience with a required minimum of 3+ years of work experience in the Truckee-Tahoe area.\nWorking knowledge of softwares such as Revit, Autocad, Excel, Enercalc, and Risa3D.\nFamiliarity with current building codes including IBC, CBC, ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC 341 & 360, NDS & SPDWS, and TMS 402/602.\n\nRequirements:\nPhysical Body Positions and Movements: Standing, kneeling, bending and sitting for long periods of time. Carrying, use of hands, arms, legs, eyes, ears and voice. Must be able to negotiate rugged terrain on foot and able to drive a vehicle.\nPhysical Appearance: Must be presentable.\nMental: Good design and problem-solving skills.\nLanguage requirements are reading, writing, spelling and ability to communicate clearly in English. Ability to respond effectively to inquiries and complaints.\n\nJob Description\nReports to Principal Engineer\nEngineering\nAssume structural lead role including oversight of structural designer(s).\nPrepare structural design including framing layouts, member sizing, lateral design, and detailing for structural projects.\nPrepare engineering calculations to support structural design using a combination of hand calculations, spreadsheets, and analysis software.\nAble to work in and incorporate structural information into project models in Revit.\nMay delegate portions of structural design to structural designer(s) and oversee their performance.\nPerform structural observations of projects during construction and prepare letter documenting findings.\nResponds to questions during construction, both formally and informally.\nProvide guidance to the architectural team in early phases of the project as architects explore potential structural systems.\nNotifies appropriate parties including project architect and principals when a problem with the design is encountered.\nSuggests potential construction cost saving opportunities to the architect.\nMaintain MWA, Inc. operations, quality and CAD standards relative to the structural design of the project.\nProject Management\nMonitors structural design progress with understanding of internal milestones and submittal deadlines.\nPlans project work and proactively approaches other team members to secure design information needed to perform the work in a timely manner.\nCommunicates with the principals, architectural lead, and other structural team members on a regular basis throughout the design of the project.\nParticipate in project meetings and discussions, providing technical input and collaborating with other disciplines.\nReview and quality-control drawings prior to handoff for final review by principals.\nOccasionally research new products and assemblies, review building code requirements, etc.\nOccasionally assist with other duties assigned by management.\nBusiness development\nAssists in estimating project fees/hours for inclusion in larger proposals.\nMay prepare proposals for smaller projects under supervision of the Principal Engineer.\n\nBenefits:\nOffering a full suite of benefits, MWA, Inc. is focused on investing in our employees who enable our company to fulfill our mission and achieve success.
