Your role in this position will include software requirements gathering, software design, development, troubleshooting and debugging.\n\nPeraton is the prime contractor on the SENSE contract for NASA at the White Sands Complex near Las Cruces, New Mexico. Operating here are two functionally identical satellite ground terminals: The White Sands Ground Terminal, and the second TDRSS Ground Terminal. These two terminals ensure uninterrupted communications between various ground stations, NASA’s orbiting fleet of Tracking and Data Relay Satellites (TDRS), customer spacecraft (satellites), and the computer systems that support such spacecraft. The WSC also serves as an interface for distributing satellite data to control centers and scientists who then use the daily influx of data to expand our ever-growing knowledge of the Earth and the universe.\n\nThis position will be responsible for:\nPerforms systems modeling, simulation and analysis to provide appropriate telemetry, tracking, and command software solutions.\nProvides input for documentation of new or existing programs to ensure information accessibility, as required.\nParticipates in designing, developing, troubleshooting and analyzing software programs that operate with hardware systems.\nAssists in customizing purchased applications and assists in maintaining program libraries and manuals based on research and customer needs.\nProvides feedback and reports to management on the status and availability of software and hardware to ensure proper functioning.\nWorks with customer(s) to provide hands-on first level support.\nQualifications\nRequired Experience\nBachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics or related technical field and 0-2 years of relative experience.\nSecurity clearance - this position requires the candidate to be able to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance and to maintain the clearance thereafter.\nYou must be a US Citizen and show proof of citizenship.\nMust be able to maintain ability to access government worksite.\nDesired Experience\nExperience in software engineering with OpenVMS or Linux or Windows operating systems.\nExperience with SQL databases.\nExperience working with object-oriented coding languages such as Ada or C++ or Java.\nExperience working with software design principles.\nA willingness to learn and remain agile in a dynamic environment.\nThe ability to work in a team environment.\nAnalytical and problem-solving skills for design, creation and testing of software.\nInterpersonal skills to interact with customers and team members.\nDetails\nTarget Salary Range: $51,000 - $82,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations.
