At Matic, we're on a mission to recapture that lost time, and we're doing it by revolutionizing home robotics.\r\nOur first product, also called Matic, is a Wall-E-esque floor cleaning robot. We've built what amounts to \"full self-driving in the home\" with real-time 3D mapping, adaptive path-tracking, and a precise semantic understanding of the home. Our breakthroughs in spatial AI allow Matic to work reliably in real homes, using only RGB cameras and neural networks running on-device.\r\nPrivacy First\r\nWhat happens in the home, stays in the home. Our robots are private by design, with all data processing performed by the robot itself, not in the cloud.\r\nOur Approach\r\nBefore the iPhone, consumers adopted several distinct devices; cell phones, PDAs, and portable music players each served a particular need. We believe in a similar progression for home robotics, starting with single-purpose robots and building iteratively toward more complex capabilities over time.\r\nOur Culture\r\nMatic is a tight-knit and collaborative team, singularly focused on building products our customers will cherish. We're ultra-hardworking people committed to solving tough problems that save precious time and energy.\r\nAbout the role\r\nWe're looking for a UX Engineer / Design Engineer to help build and refine Matic's mobile app experience.\r\nThis role sits at the intersection of design and engineering. You'll work closely with product designers and engineers to turn thoughtful interaction concepts into polished, production-ready UI.\r\nThe Matic app is where users interact with real-time autonomy — from maps and cleaning controls to robot status and feature configuration. Your work will help make complex robotic intelligence feel intuitive, trustworthy, and beautifully executed.\r\nThis is an entry-to-mid-level role with strong growth potential for someone who cares about craft, interaction quality, and building products that live beyond the screen.\r\nWhat You're Going to Do\r\nBuild and ship high-quality UI in Matic's mobile app\r\nTranslate Figma designs and prototypes into production-ready components\r\nImplement smooth animations and thoughtful micro-interactions\r\nHelp visualize complex robot behaviors (mapping, obstacle detection, cleaning states)\r\nCollaborate closely with product design to refine interaction details\r\nPartner with design, software, algorithms, and hardware teams to ensure accurate real-time feedback\r\nContribute to and help evolve a scalable design system in code\r\nParticipate in feature planning and iteration discussions\r\nWhat You Bring\r\n1–4+ years of experience in front-end or mobile development\r\nExperience building product-facing UI (mobile preferred)\r\nFamiliarity with Rust and/or Python, iOS and/or Android is required.\r\nStrong attention to detail in spacing, hierarchy, motion, and interaction\r\nComfort working in a fast-moving, collaborative environment\r\nCuriosity about connected devices and how software interfaces with hardware\r\nClear communication skills and a willingness to give and receive feedback\r\nPortfolio (Required)\r\nPlease include a portfolio showcasing relevant design work. We're especially interested in projects that demonstrate strong visual taste, attention to detail, and the ability to translate complex ideas into clear, compelling graphics. Work that shows range across brand, marketing, product visuals, or storytelling is particularly valuable. Please provide portfolio website password (if applicable).\r\nCompensation\r\nBase $96,000 — $120,000\r\nActual Compensation will depend on skills, experience and qualifications.
