Raw Materials Processing Center (RMPC) Department receives spent automotive/industrial batteries and breaks them down into raw material components. RMPC processes the materials including de-sulfurization to provide lead to the Furnace Department in a safe and environmentally compliant manner. RMPC also manages wastewater treatment for the facility. The Furnace Department receives newly separated lead from batteries, melts the material in our furnaces, and casts into molds before continuing to the Refining Department to ensure client specifications are met. The Refining Department receives newly cast lead from the Furnace Department and processes the lead to ensure excellence in quality and customer satisfaction with final product.\n\nThis position is scheduled for 12-hour shifts covering 5:30am – 5:00pm on a rotating basis.\n\nCritical Success Criteria:\nEnsure employees follow safety and environmental health procedures to help protect people and the environment.\nMake critical operations decisions with minimal consultation that are necessary to keep the plant running safely and efficiently\nPlan and schedule staff to meet daily production needs\nOversee, coach and train employees to be the best they can be in their jobs so that they have a successful career and future at Gopher Resource, as well as ensure high quality and safe production.\n\nResponsibilities:\nDevelop production staff to ensure they are properly trained on operating procedures, operation of equipment, and safety guidelines; develop lead person and process technician staff in basic supervisory skills\nMake all critical decisions, with minimal consultation, that are necessary to keep the plant running safely and efficiently\nPlan and schedule shift work according to product schedule and hourly staff on the shift; coordinate the plan with lead persons on shift\nConduct rounds to check on all gauges, controls, equipment, and document stats on log sheets for permanent record keeping\nRespond to any health issues according to basic first aid guidelines and training\nTake immediate action, as necessary, in production plant regarding safety violations, production standards deviations, and other operating problems that arise during the course of production\nReview maintenance work performed during the shift to ensure productivity is on track; adjust maintenance priorities as necessary to reflect any critical malfunctions during the shift\nParticipate with others in management discussions related to the operation of the production plant\nParticipate in new hire/staff selection and training\nReport shift statistics at the end of shift and assist the next shift manager with the transition to ensure continuous operation of the plant; make rounds with incoming shift supervisor to review the status of the plant prior to shift change\nRecommend equipment upgrades, workforce adjustments, process modifications; may recommend product or service modifications\nEnforce employee attendance policies and procedures through the shift\nParticipate in the evaluation process of team performance, offering constructive feedback on the areas of position skills and needed development\nConsult with Production Manager to ensure new processes are accurately documented;
