Property Care Assistant
Weekends & Evenings, Part-time
Purpose: The Property Care Assistant works collegially with the Pastor, DOO, staff, Clerk(s) of Session, members of the Building and Property Committee, and members of the congregation. The position is responsible for providing general maintenance support during weekends and evenings. They also provide reception, building security and maintenance coverage when staff are absent. The position provides support for building events and congregational worship activities. Technical competencies in the building trades are highly preferred
The Property Care Assistant is accountable to the Maintenance Supervisor.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Serves as in integral part of the operations team. Performs custodial responsibilities to maintain building aesthetics, cleanliness, and hygiene; follows building cleaning schedules.
2. Ensures the Sanctuary, Chapel, Institute and Allen Street buildings are impeccably clean and organized by directly performing cleaning and organizational duties.
3. Assists with the disposition of excess material stored throughout the church.
4. Follows established custodial, maintenance, front desk, and building security procedures.
5. Ensures building is safe to enter during the winter months, may operate a snow blower, shovel snow, and apply ice melt.
6. Facilitates a positive event experience for all building customers including the congregation and tenants. Set-up space as requested, including coffee service and sound & video equipment.
7. Be present and visible during building events and serve as a liaison for tenants, members, and guests to ensure the event runs smoothly and expectations are exceeded.
8. See that microphones are properly positioned and ensure operability of sound for the Sunday Service.
9. Performs reception/security duties when needed to include answering incoming calls, appropriately responding to callers, and forwarding calls. Manages gate entry into the parking lots and access to entry doors, and utilizes an intercom system to communicate with maintenance.
10. Follows all security procedures and monitors the surveillance cameras located at the entry doors, parking lots, and outside/inside of the building. Notifies supervisors of concerning activities. May need to call 911.
11. Reviews posted and scheduled building events, screens and directs visitors according to the building schedule.
12. Assists the Maintenance Supervisor to maintain security for the building complex. This includes key control, locks, exterior door access system, intrusion alarm system and video security system.
13. Attends weekly staff meetings and available for scheduled supervision during the business week.
14. Perform all other duties related to building upkeep, setting up for special events, general maintenance, building coverage, and building security.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. A minimum of two years of professional work experience preferably having responsibilities for custodial, construction, building trades, property maintenance, facilitating events, and/or security duties. A completed apprenticeship or trade school degree may be substituted for experience.
AND
2. A High School Diploma or GED and a valid NYS driver’s license.

3. Reliable Transportation.
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
