The Controller partners with the Manager, Finance and Commercial Risk to lead financial accounting and administration for the district, contributing to the district's success by analyzing and managing financial risk and performance.\r\nResponsibilities Financial Leadership & Relationships Mentor and coach direct and indirect reports including accounting staff and payroll.\r\nPartner with the Manager, Finance and Commercial Risk and operations to align district strategy with financial and strategic priorities.\r\nProvide financial and commercial risk training to the District.\r\nPlanning & Cash Management Lead yearly planning process and drive ownership for achieving results in collaboration with the Manager, Finance and Commercial Risk.\r\nMonitor project and district receivables and cash position.\r\nDevelop mitigation strategies with operations for risks and cost deviations.\r\nCommercial Risk Guidance Assist in developing an overall risk profile for the District and strategies for financing and risk management.\r\nOversee the preparation of insurance, subcontract default insurance, and/or legal claims.\r\nInterpret, negotiate, and approve deviations from supplier, subcontractor, and consultant forms.\r\nPartner on owner contracts and subcontracts guidance; support pursuits and project teams to identify and manage risks and opportunities.\r\nEvaluate insurance, bonding, and other performance securities to satisfy contract and corporate requirements.\r\nFinancial Analysis & Monitoring Assist in managing financial and business-related issues in partnership with the Manager, Finance and Commercial Risk.\r\nAnalyze district financial results (profits, trends, costs) and ensure compliance with project and administrative budgets.\r\nProvide proactive analysis and input on project performance.\r\nEvaluate potential joint venture partner financial capability.\r\nVerify owner funding sources and collaborate with operations to mitigate financial risks.\r\nOversee owner audits, claims, and other project-related financial issues.\r\nQualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance\r\n6+ years of accounting experience\r\n5+ years of supervisory experience in managing an Accounting department\r\nExperience in the construction industry preferred\r\nAdvanced knowledge of accounting procedures, budgeting, forecasting, analysis, and reporting\r\nAdvanced knowledge of bid and contract securities, insurance, risk management, claims management, pricing, and accounting\r\nIntermediate ability to draft, review, and negotiate contract language; intermediate risk evaluation, negotiation, and strategic thinking\r\nProactive, self-motivated, organized, and able to work independently\r\nEffective problem-solving and decision-making\r\nStrong written and oral communication skills\r\nProven ability to collaborate and build relationships\r\nPCL is an innovative, employee-owned company committed to diversity and equal opportunity.
