Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
This position offers an opportunity to provide critical communication support to young learners through sign language interpretation in an elementary school setting. The role requires a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to work onsite, supporting a PreK classroom on a part-time basis.
Location: Lincoln, NE
Position Duration: Contract through 5/22/2026
Schedule: Part-time, approximately 3.75 hours per day
Setting: Elementary School, PreK classroom
Key Responsibilities:
Facilitate effective communication for deaf and hard-of-hearing students by providing high-quality, onsite sign language interpretation
Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to ensure full accessibility for students
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all interactions
Adapt communication to meet the varied needs of students within the classroom environment
Qualifications and Skills:
Must hold a minimum 4.0 EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) score
Proven experience interpreting in educational settings, preferably with early childhood students
Strong knowledge of sign language and interpretation techniques tailored to young learners
Ability to work collaboratively in a school environment
Reliable onsite availability during scheduled hours
