Communicates with Independent Contractors (I/C) on their availability, match loads with I/C and customers and ensures that all pickups and delivers are met.\r\nCritical Job Functions:\r\nReview each terminal's load plan.\r\nAnswer picks up calls from customers.\r\nPrioritize pickups to efficiently use trucks and maximize customer satisfaction.\r\nEnsure that all customer pickups are made.\r\nManage pickup and delivery appointments.\r\nGive drivers advances to pay for breakdowns and unloading.\r\nAdminister company policy as needed.\r\nAdminister tracking system for pickups and delivery.\r\nCoordinate freight movement with drivers and freight handlers.\r\nProvides assistance and information to Independent Contractors who has broken down notifying origin and destination terminals.\r\nProvide safety information to Independent Contractor's in reference to accidents, breakdowns, and delays.\r\nProvides leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge.\r\nOther duties as assigned.\r\nJob Requirements:\r\nBachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.\r\nRelies on written and verbal communication.\r\nAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.\r\nAbility to write routine reports and correspondence.\r\nAbility to speak effectively before groups of customers or employers of organization.\r\nCommunicates internally with all corporate office staff, and externally with terminals, line haul contractors, law enforcement and customers.\r\nSpecific industry or position skills.\r\nProficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.\r\nPreferred knowledge of AS/400.\r\nExperience supervising the selection, training, development and appraisal of personnel and work assignments.\r\nAverage typing, filing and ten key skills.\r\nAbility to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.\r\nAbility to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.\r\nAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.\r\nAbility to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.\r\nAbility to prioritize tasks.\r\nAbility to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.\r\nAbility to prioritize, organize, and delegate assignments.\r\nPhysical Demands and Work Environment:\r\nThe physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this position.
