Assembly procedures may involve adjusting, trimming and fitting parts to moderately close tolerances, working with parts or components which are difficult to handle and other skills which require good dexterity and facility in the use of a variety of hand tools.\n\nKEY RESULT AREAS:\n\nParts are assembled according to specifications and standard shop practices.\nParts are consistently handled and protected properly and safely.\nWork standards are consistently met and improved.\nWasted effort and material is constantly sought and eliminated.\nConstantly seeks additional work to ensure high levels of productivity are achieved.\nDuties are constantly performed in a safe manner to ensure compliance with safety specifications.\n\nDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:\n\nAnalyzes assembly blueprint and specifications manual.\nVerifies conformance of parts to stock list and blueprints, using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauges and micrometers.\nLays out hole locations and drills taps holes on parts for assembly.\nAligns components for assembly, manually or with hoist, and bolts, screws, dowels, welds or rivets parts together using hand tools.\nRemoves high spots and smoothes surfaces using chisels, scrapers, files and powered hand grinder.\nVerifies alignment and tolerances of moving parts using measuring instruments such as dial indicators and thickness gauge.\nTest operation of assembly by hand.\n\nDESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION:\n\nHigh School diploma or equivalent required.\nDemonstrated mechanical aptitude.\n\nDESIRABLE EXPERIENCE/SKILL:\n\nThree to six months related experience and/or training in applications of entry level mechanical aptitude.\n\nRELATIONSHIPS:\n\nDevelops close working relationship with other assemblers, material handlers, and quality control personnel.\nDemonstrates a highly cooperative demeanor with other employees and willingly takes the initiative to help others succeed.\n\nEqual Opportunity Employer M/F/D/V\n\nAll applicants will be considered for this position based upon experience and knowledge, without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, ancestry, marital, disabled or veteran status.
