Senior Actuary

DescriptionRobert Half is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Actuary for a long-term remote contract opportunity. This key role will involve analyzing the profitability of various Specialty Programs, working closely with underwriting to enhance pricing and underwriting strategies, and identifying areas of profitable growth. This role can be fully remote and will be a consulting position.Key Duties/ResponsibilitiesPerform analyses on the profitability of various Specialty Programs.Collaborate with underwriting to create pricing and underwriting strategies.Identify and communicate profitable growth opportunities to underwriting.Monitor rate, exposure, retention, new business, lost business, and loss trends, and communicate findings effectively.Generate business solutions to boost risk-adjusted profit, and build analytical tools to manage existing portfolios.Assess profitability of the business based on industry segment and geography.Assist in reserve review analysis and participate in quarter and year-end processes.Develop rate level evaluation reports and recommend rate changes accordingly.Estimate impacts of proposed rate, rule, and form changes, and relay results and suggestions to underwriting and management at all levels.Lead reviews of specific components of rating plans as requested by management.RequirementsMust have a Bachelor's Degre7+ years of actuarial experience is required, with most of that time spent working specifically on pricing P& C insurance products.A strong track record of actuarial experience in casualty construction lines preferredAdvanced user of spreadsheets, database applications, statistical software.Strong oral and written communication skills are required. Must be able to compose non-routine reports, graphs, and memos for a diverse audience. Must also be able to communicate the results of complex material to both a technical and non-technical audience. Good listening skills are also important.
