Vision is a complex, Legacy platform written in proprietary language similar to Java/J2EE m Unix with deep Object-Oriented and Smalltalk roots. This is not a routine maintenance role.Mandatory Skills-Java /J2EE – Strong, production-grade command of Java (8+), J2EE architecture , and related enterprise patterns. Ability to read, debug, and extend mature codebases.OOP & Design - Deep understanding of Object-Oriented principles — encapsulation, inheritance, polymorphism, SOLID principles, and design patterns (GoF). Ability to reason about complex class hierarchies.Legacy Fluency - Comfort navigating underdocumented legacy systems. Ability to reverse-engineer behaviour through code reading, profiling, and test-driven exploration rather than relying on spec docs . Ability to use AI tools to reverse engineer legacy codeAI Engineering Tools - Good knowledge of AI tools like GitHub Copilot or equivalent , LLMs , MCP serversArchitecture - Hands-on experience with monolith-to-services decomposition, REST API design, and cloud-ready patterns (AWS or equivalent). Familiar with containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).Smalltalk /Unix - Working knowledge of Smalltalk — particularly in a J2EE-adjacent context — is a significant advantage. Familiarity with Smalltalk's message-passing model and reflective programming styleCI/CD & Tools : Proficiency with Git, Maven/Gradle, Jenkins or equivalent pipelines. Experience with SonarQube or similar code quality tools is a plus.Understanding of databases and data models Candidate ProfileExecutive Presence : Confident representing Hexaware in client-facing settings. Able to decompose ambiguous problems, form a hypothesis, design a quick experiment (MVP), and iterate.
