Job Description POSITION DESCRIPTIONTITLE: Sanitation TechnicianREPORTS TO: Sanitation SupervisorJOB SUMMARY:The Sanitation Technician properly cleans the production equipment and facility, in a timely manner, so production will not experience any delays in start-up. The facility must be able to pass pre-operative inspections and Quality Assurance Department daily inspections. The Sanitation Technicians are expected to uphold and demonstrate the Company's Core Values. Must follow the direction and guidance of the Sanitation Supervisor, the Quality Assurance Manager, and the Plant Manager.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:•Tear down and properly prepare equipment for sanitation;•Lockout equipment using appropriate locks and tags;•Clean and sanitize all equipment and the production area (including equipment, walls, and floors) using strong chemicals in a wet environment;•Inspect areas for cleanliness, including proper documentation in accordance with sanitation standard operating procedures;•Properly set up and prepare the equipment and departments for production•Special cleaning of the facility as needed or when scheduled;•Maintain strict adherence to the Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures and Quality Assurance Guidelines at all times to ensure the wholesomeness of our product;•Ability to operate the man-lift and electric walk-behind pallet jack;•Meet time requirements while maintaining safe practices and food safety requirements;•Comply with incident reporting policies and procedures;•Adhere to Plant's security and safety policies and procedures;•Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization in a professional manner, display a positive demeanor and be responsive to the teams' needs; and•Must be flexible to work hours to meet the needs of the plant including any shift, overtime, weekends, and holidays.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:•Ability to work in a wet environment with reduced visibility on slick surfaces/floors and with frequent exposure to noise, heat, cold, fumes, smoke, cleaners, hazardous chemicals, and other elements;•Wearing of safety gear including safety glasses, rubber boots, other various types of safety gear and uniform supplied by the company;•Ability to be on feet for extended periods of time and to perform repetitive motions;•Ability to physically lift up to 70 pounds (unassisted/assisted) and drag up high pressure hoses weighing up to 35 pounds unassisted;•Bending, turning, twisting, kneeling, and occasionally working on a ladder will also be required;•Ability to work well with co-workers in a physically close environment; and•Ability to hear, comprehend, and professionally respond to co-worker inquiries, comments, and concerns.Reasonable accommodations may be available to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:•Must be able to complete training and be certified to operate the man-lift and electric walk-behind pallet jack;Ability to learn, apply and train others on equipment sanitizing procedures and workplace health & safety procedures;•Ability to read and understand sanitation standard operating procedures (SSOPs) is criticalKnowledgeable and responsible for proper handling and use of chemicals;•Must be able to be trained on and follow the Lockout/Tagout Program and the Confined Space Program and to receive training on the proper handling and use of chemicals; andEDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:• High School diploma or GED preferred; and•Prior experience in sanitation with experiencing using chemicals and equipment in dry/wet environments preferred.Labor Solutions is an equal opportunity employer.
