At Kaneka North America, you’re encouraged to take ownership of your work, grow your skills, and build a long‑term career in an environment that values both accountability and people.\nJOB DETAILS\nThe Process Safety Engineer supports site compliance with OSHA’s Process Safety Management (PSM) rule (29 CFR Part 1910.119), the EPA’s RMP rule (40 CFR Part 68), and industry best practices and consensus standards (i.e., API, ASTM, ASME) pertaining to chemical process safety.\nESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES\nImplement and maintain PSM and RMP programs in accordance with regulatory requirements.\nManage and lead Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA), Facility Siting Studies, and other PSM-related Studies for existing processes, projects, and modifications.\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams to assess and manage change through Management of Change (MOC) processes.\nDevelop and enhance written HSSE & PSM procedures, policies, and documentation.\nPerform and lead incident investigations.\nConduct regular audits to ensure compliance with internal procedures and industry standards.\nProvide required safety & process safety training to plant personnel to enhance awareness and understanding.\nAssist sites in addressing Safety Instrumented System (SIS) documentation and supporting Safety Integrity Level (SIL) scenario analysis, and Functional Safety Assessments.\nSupport and manage relief device systems and maintain appropriate and accurate information.\nStay updated on industry best practices, regulations, and standards related to process safety.\nProvide project input concerning process safety requirements, including recognized and generally accepted good engineering practices (RAGAGEP) and industry consensus standards (i.e., NFPA, ASME, API, IEC, and ASTM) to prevent, control, and mitigate risks.\nConduct chemical dispersion modeling for PSM/RMP analysis as needed.\nPerform any other safety-related compliance work as needed by HSSE manager.\nMust demonstrate the following emotional intelligence skills:\nEmotional Empathy\nPositive Attitude\nExcellent Communication Skills\nFlexibility / Adaptability\nJoin us as a Process Safety Engineer to drive impactful safety initiatives that elevate our manufacturing excellence!
