Accounting Assitant

Staff Accountant (Construction / Project-Based Environment)A well-established project-based services organization in Central New Jersey is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support day-to-day accounting operations. This role offers a mix of accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general accounting responsibilities in a fast-paced, operations-driven environment.The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, and comfortable managing multiple priorities, with experience supporting accounting functions tied to job-based or service-oriented work.Key ResponsibilitiesAccounts Receivable & BillingManage daily billing activities by reviewing supporting documentation and issuing accurate, timely invoicesReconcile incoming payments, investigate discrepancies, and resolve customer account issuesEnsure invoices align with approved pricing, tax treatment, and required documentationAccounts PayableEnter and process vendor invoices in the accounting systemCoordinate internal approvals and assist with regular payment cyclesMatch invoices to supporting documentation and maintain accurate payment recordsMonitor vendor statements, research outstanding balances, and respond to inquiriesGeneral Accounting & Operations SupportMaintain organized electronic and physical records, including invoices, purchase orders, and supporting documentationAssist with transaction tracking, reconciliations, and general ledger supportProcess routine payments and support documentation related to vendor and customer accountsProvide general administrative support, including assisting with calls, coordinating documentation, and supporting internal requestsQualificationsExperience in accounts payable and accounts receivable functions within a business settingWorking knowledge of general ledger activity, journal entries, and month-end close supportProficiency with QuickBooks accounting softwareStrong attention to detail, particularly when reviewing pricing, tax treatment, and supporting documentationAbility to organize and manage high volumes of records (digital and physical)Strong communication skills for interacting with internal teams, vendors, and customersAbility to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environmentWhat This Role OffersHands-on exposure to full-cycle accounting operationsStable, team-oriented environment with consistent workflowOpportunity to work closely with operations and leadership teamsAdditional benefits available, 100% medical coverage offered for individual employeeRobert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
