We are partnering with a leading global (re)insurance organization to appoint a Vice President of Reinsurance Accounting. This is a high-impact leadership role, reporting directly to the CFO, with full ownership of the reinsurance accounting function across a complex, multi-entity environment.This hire is part of a planned succession, with the current VP (15–20+ years tenure) set to retire within 12–18 months. The successful candidate will join immediately and benefit from a structured, in-depth handover.Hybrid 3 days/week in Warren, NJThe OpportunityThis is a rare chance to step into a fully built but evolving function, leading ~30 professionals (6 direct reports), while also playing a key role in major systems transformation. The business is currently operating on Zuber and will transition to Six Ashore over the next year, making this an ideal role for someone with strong systems exposure and change management experience. You will oversee end-to-end reinsurance accounting, across both ceded and assumed portfolios, including retrocession, in a global operating environment.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and develop a team of ~30 across all aspects of reinsurance accounting (6 direct reports)Own the end-to-end reinsurance accounting function, including reporting, controls, and close processesManage accounting across ceded and assumed reinsurance, including retrocession structuresPartner closely with the CFO and senior leadership on financial strategy and reportingPlay a key leadership role in the migration from Zuber to Six AshoreDrive process improvement, automation, and system optimization initiativesEnsure compliance across US GAAP and Statutory (Yellow Book) reportingCollaborate with global stakeholders, including CFOs and finance teams in London and DublinMaintain strong internal controls within a public company (or equivalent) environmentWhat We’re Looking For10+ years of experience in reinsurance accounting within the P&C spaceDeep expertise across both ceded and assumed reinsurance, including retrocessionStrong working knowledge of reinsurance accounting systems (Zuber and/or Six Ashore highly preferred)Proven experience in systems implementation, migration, or transformationSolid grounding in US GAAP and Statutory accounting (Yellow Book)Experience operating in a large, complex, or public company environment (IPO exposure a plus)A hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves mentality – someone who can lead from the frontCareer progression demonstrating growth from technical roles into leadership (“started at the bottom and worked up”)Strong stakeholder management skills, particularly in global, matrixed environmentsCPA is not required – depth of reinsurance accounting expertise is the priority.Why This Role?Clear succession path into a critical leadership roleSignificant exposure to C-suite and global finance leadershipOpportunity to lead a major systems transformationBlend of strategic oversight and hands-on executionHigh-visibility role within a growing, complex organization
