They are trained in operating, controlling, and maintaining high speed sophisticated machines and equipment that are used in the manufacturing products. The pouch machine operator must set up and operate the pouch machine to produce finished bags or pouches meeting customer specifications. The operator is responsible for counting, wrapping, and stacking the finished pouches in lined corrugated boxes on pallets, as well as cleaning the pouch machine and peripheral equipment.\nEssential Job Functions\nSet up and operate Pouch machine and support equipment to form pouches of printed/laminated/unsupported flexible plastic film, paper, and nonabsorbent stock for use in making products for, but not limited to, food packaging.\nSetup and operate trim winding units.\nReads entire job ticket for information required for the set up and running of production order.\nRetrieve all necessary components such as bag and gusset formers, side seals and zipper crush die sets, zipper application dies and zipper spools, case labels, etc.\nMust possess the ability to read and understand the job specifications to properly ensure the finished product meets all customer expectations.\nIdentify defects found in production and communicate those to the packer to make sure those pouches affected are excluded from packing.\nOperate within standard operating procedures (SOPs).\nResponsible for quality control. Adjust, as necessary, during production ASAP to minimize waste of raw materials and time.\nEnsure the machine is operating in a safe condition with all safety equipment operational.\nEnsure that the finished product is properly labeled and documented to provide traceability.\nEnsure that the finished product is properly packed according to specification.\nEnsure a clean and safe working area.\nOptimize safety (food and workplace), quality, yield, and productivity.\nComplete production paperwork.\nOther duties as assigned.\nSkills and Knowledge\nStrong communication and interpersonal skills\nAbility to work well in a team environment.\nFlexible and able to adapt to changing priorities.\nGood problem-solving and analytical skills\nExcellent attention to detail\nAbility to work in a fast-paced environment.\nAbility to follow detailed verbal and written instructions.\nAbility to read and comprehend blueprints a plus.\nAbility to read a tape measure to 1/16\"\nManual coordination and dexterity\nAbility to use basic tools.\nAbility to handle equipment with care, caution and work safely.\nEducation and Experience:\nHigh School Diploma, or equivalent.\nBasic understanding of the set up and operation of a bag/pouch machine a plus.\nExperience in manufacturing, the printing distribution and/or packaging is a plus.\nKnowledge of safety policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.\nPhysical Requirements\nPeriodic lifting cartons onto a pallet up to approx. 20 lbs. to various heights up to approx. 5.5 ft high\nOn feet for approx. 8-12 hours daily on concrete floors\nPeriod lifting of pallets weight and material weighing up to 50 lbs.\nOccasional lifting a hydraulic lift plate approx. 115lbs up to 3ft with assistance.\nSwinging & Banging in the roll shafts with a dead blow hammer (a large rubber mallet) up to 2 times per shift\nWalking, squatting, crouching, turning, twisting, stretching, climbing steps, grabbing, pulling, pushing, and bending.\nIshihara machine eye exam for perfect color\nTypical environment of manufacturing and production facilities.
