TRAVEL: Up to 30%
REMOTE WORK: Hybrid (+50% Onsite) – Onsite 90% / Remote 10%
EXPECTED PAY RANGE: $76,863 - $142,683 annually
This pay range is for the position’s base pay only. This position may be eligible for other compensation including incentive pay and/or allowances. Candidates will receive additional information during the interview and selection process.
Position Level: The best fit candidate selected for this position will be offered a job title/level (Applications Engineer I vs. Applications Engineer II) that is most appropriate after evaluating the person's education, experience, training, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Applications Engineer I/II (AE) is responsible for technical product support with a focus on failure analysis (FA) of semiconductor technologies using FIB (Focused Ion Beam)-SEM. The AE will conduct demonstrations, develop applications/workflows, and provide training to customers. AE’s will provide customer support to complete tool installation and acceptance tests. This position will require considerable judgment and initiative to be self-proficient in addition to participating in team-oriented projects. AE’s are expected to work on special projects to improve overall department efficiency. AE’s will provide applications support through classroom training, phone support, and through direct work performed physically onsite at customer facilities. Generally, the AE requires minimal supervision and have a working knowledge across multiple product lines related to failure analysis, with a heavy emphasis of transmission electron microscopy, high electron energy principles, image processing, and related analytical data analysis methodologies.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical product support for FIB-SEM
Provide applications support for customers through recipe automation audits
Deliver compelling product presentations
Provide sample-run activities and product demonstrations to customers
Conduct technical product training on instruments and applications for customers and internal staff
Understand and provide technical solutions to customer’s technical requirements through applications support
Analyze customer samples for sales opportunities and technical support
Assist internal staff and customers with technical support and application issues
Review customer application needs with sales and technical staff
Serve in a technical support role during sales calls
Resolve technical product line issues and problems
Key account technical management
Provide technical requirements to the factory for continued and next generation product development
Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION, LICENSES, and/or CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
BS degree in related field required or equivalent combination of education and experience
MS degree in Physics, Materials Science, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field is a plus
Driver’s license with acceptable driving record with the ability to be covered under the company’s insurance
EXPERIENCE and TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Two (2) years’ relevant work experience
Two (2) years’ experience for AE I or Five (5) years’ experience for AE II in related materials science applications or semiconductor FA applications
Two (2) years’ experience for AE I or Five (5) years’ experience for AE-II working with FIB-SEM experience
Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM) and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) experience is strongly preferred
Programming experience in scripting languages, Python, C, and C++, MATLab is a plus
Project management experience is a plus
Experience developing new products, technical functions, or applications through customer collaboration is a plus
Domestic and international travel up to 30%
