Certified Occupational Therapy AssistantThe staff Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA/OTA) functions under the general supervision of the physical medicine lead and under the direct supervision of the therapist responsible for a specific patient's care. The staff COTA assumes responsibility and accountability for providing modalities and treatment procedures as determined by a treatment plan established by an occupational therapist and in accordance with established hospital and departmental policies while maintaining the highest degree of quality patient care.Qualifications:Current state licensure as an Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA/OTA)Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association upon hire and maintain certification throughout employmentAbility to read, write and converse in EnglishAbility to communicate with patients, families, staff, physicians, support agencies, vendors and othersAbility to evaluate and interpret information and make independent decisionsAbility to respond to pagesAbility to lift and transfer patients exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds frequentlyAbility to tolerate prolonged walking, standing and/or sittingHas sensory skills to differentiate clinical signs and symptomsAbility to remain calm and composed under stress, including emergency response to patient incidents
