This person will lead the initial MongoDB platform build from the underlying server, operating system, storage, and disk configuration through cluster deployment, replication, high availability, backup, recovery, monitoring, patching, and operational support. The role will also provide Cassandra support and redundancy, help reduce 24/7 on-call dependency, and contribute to related NoSQL efforts such as Redis and potential Neo4j GraphDB adoption. The engineer will work with vendors and internal stakeholders to shape licensing, contract, and onboarding models for MongoDB Enterprise; document standards and procedures; troubleshoot issues that reach the database engineering team; and connect database requirements to infrastructure, application, security, compliance, and business needs. This is an operational, highly hands-on role with limited application development. The successful engineer will bring tested production judgment, strong communication, and the ability to solve problems internally rather than simply hand infrastructure to a development team.Must Haves5+ years supporting self-managed or on-premises database platforms, with direct experience building MongoDB clusters from scratch across the server, operating system, storage, and database layers.Production MongoDB Enterprise experience, including document-model design, deployment, configuration, replication, high availability, backup, recovery, monitoring, and operational support.Strong infrastructure depth across Linux, storage, networking, capacity planning, patching, backup and disaster recovery, monitoring, and performance troubleshooting.
