Lead Cable Technician
Infrastructure Technician III (Lead)One of Insight Global’s clients is seeking an Infrastructure Technician III (Lead) to support and lead on-site structured cabling and infrastructure projects. This is a hands-on technical leadership role that requires travel to client sites in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Chicago, Denver, and Phoenix as needed.Key ResponsibilitiesLead on-site installation and servicing of low-voltage, fiber optic, and network cabling systems, including full structured cabling buildsInstall, remove, and maintain cabling infrastructure, cabinets, racks, communication equipment, and cable pathways (ladders, trays, supports)Serve as on-site team lead, overseeing technicians, providing performance feedback, and coordinating with Operations ManagersPerform Layer 1 installation of network equipment (APs, routers, switches, WLAN controllers, modems) with no configuration responsibilitiesSupport project execution through client communication, planning/scheduling, material management, site surveys, and milestone trackingTroubleshoot and repair infrastructure; ensure safety/quality compliance; complete testing, documentation (as-builts, audits), and project closeout reportingRequired Qualifications (Must Have)6+ years of experience as a Site Support Technician / Infrastructure Technician (or similar)3+ years of experience as an on-site team lead3+ years installing network equipment in a Layer 1 capacity (no configuration)Hands-on experience installing, terminating, and testing low-voltage cabling, including:Twisted pairCoaxPower-limited tray cableStranded & solid conductor cableFiber optic cableExperience installing cable pathways and conveyance systems (ladders, trays, supports)Advanced knowledge of cabling standards (BICSI, ANSI, EIA/TIA, NEC)Ability to read blueprints and architectural/mechanical/electrical drawingsStrong client-facing communication skillsValid driver’s licensePhysical RequirementsAbility to carry up to 30 lbsAbility to lift up to 50 lbsComfortable climbing ladders and working at heightsPreferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)Associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent hands-on experience3+ years of experience working in retail, consumer, or industrial environmentsRelevant industry certifications (e.g., CNET CNCI, BICSI INST1/INSTC/INSTF/TECH, manufacturer certifications)Strong technical foundation in cabling systems, safety standards, and troubleshooting, including through-wall penetration experience and mechanical aptitude
