{"schemaVersion":"jobsearcher.job.v1","id":"4c4708bb1a1202b581c9a360","url":"https://jobsearcher.com/jobs/4c4708bb1a1202b581c9a360","canonicalUrl":"https://jobsearcher.com/jobs/4c4708bb1a1202b581c9a360","title":"Controller","description":"Job ID: 114559\n\nThe Leonardo DRS Naval Electronics business provides leading naval computing infrastructure, network and data distribution and middleware enterprise services, as well as world-class manufacturing and support capabilities.\n\nJob Summary\n\nWe're hiring a Controller to lead accounting excellence for our Naval Electronics Business Unit.\n\nThis is a high-impact leadership role partnering closely with senior leadership across Leonardo DRS to strengthen compliance, sharpen insights, and drive disciplined execution in a regulated defense manufacturing environment.\n\nLocation\n\nThis opportunity is hybrid schedule eligible with routine (minimum of 2-3 days per week) onsite requirements at one of the following locations:\n\nSensors Center of Excellence - Largo, FL\nSubmarine Combat Systems Center of Excellence - Twin Cities, MN\nComputing and Networks Center of Excellence - Johnstown, PA\n\nThis position has both domestic and international (Canada) travel requirements - approximately 10%\n\nJob Responsibilities\n\nAs the Controller, you will lead the accounting organization and ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting across the Business Unit.\n\nStrategic Leadership and Governance\n\nMonitor accounting policies and procedures; recommend improvements aligned to business needs and evolving regulations\nConsult with Senior Management; participate in establishing and implementing major departmental goals and objectives\nEstablish accounting plans, goals, and policies consistent with company-wide priorities\nSupport and reinforce organizational mission, values, and culture; serve as a trusted resource on accounting matters\nMentor and develop leaders and team members to build capability and continuity\n\nFinancial Reporting, Compliance, and Audit\n\nOversee preparation of daily, monthly, annual, and periodic financial statements and required tax reporting\nEnsure external submissions/filings are complete, accurate, and delivered on schedule\nEnsure accounting records and reporting remain compliant with GAAP and applicable government regulations\nServe as a liaison with external auditors and applicable regulatory authorities\nEnsure internal and external recording/reporting of financial transactions is accurate and well-controlled\nEnsure accounting activities follow established legal, regulatory, and company procedures\n\nCost Accounting and Analytics\n\nLead and support government cost accounting requirements and reporting expectations\nConduct cost analysis, ratio and trend analysis, and other comparative examinations\nReview, analyze, and interpret financial and budgetary reports (including annual forecasts)\nComplete operational reports and analyses as requested by senior leadership\n\nPeople Leadership\n\nAssign, direct, and evaluate work to ensure efficient, compliant finance operations\nFoster a performance-driven culture focused on accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement\nProvide leadership oversight for accounting operations supporting locations in both the US and Canada, ensuring alignment to enterprise controls, reporting cadence, and compliance expectations\n\nQualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field\n10+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience\nMinimum of 5 years of leadership experience\nOr an equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities\nDemonstrated expertise in government cost accounting in a regulated environment\nThorough knowledge of accounting practices, procedures, and financial reporting\nUnderstanding of governmental regulations and reporting requirements\nAdvanced proficiency with an ERP (Deltek/CostPoint), Power BI, and Microsoft Excel\nProven ability to interpret complex financial/budgetary reports and drive actionable insights\nExperience overseeing or partnering with Canada-based accounting operations preferred\n\nThe salary range for this position is ($130,000/year- $200,000/year). This range reflects the good faith estimate of pay the employer is willing to offer at the time of posting. Several factors can influence the pay scale, including but not limited to: Federal contract labor categories and contract wage rates, collective bargaining agreements, geographic location, business considerations, scope, and responsibilities of the position, local or other applicable market conditions, and internal equity. Other factors include the candidate’s qualifications such as prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education/training, and certifications. In addition to base pay, employees may be eligible for: annual performance-based bonuses, equity awards, and overtime pay (for non-exempt employees as applicable.
