Substitute General WorkerThe Substitute General Worker assists in providing quality food and service to students in a quick and pleasant manner on an as-needed basis.Reports to Kitchen ManagerEssential Duties and Responsibilities:Follow food safe practices and HACCP regulations in all assigned work.Run kitchen equipment as assigned.Serve meals and components according to recipes in an efficient and productive manner.Ensure dishes, small wares, equipment and spaces are cleaned, sanitized and organized.Quickly and effectively enter transactions using the Point of Service systemCollection of cash and checks while maintaining accuracy in entries.Maintain inventory of selected items.The employee will be required to perform any other position-related duties requested by the Kitchen Manager and/or the Director of Food Service.Employee must wear assigned uniform according to the department handbookEmployee must maintain a proper level of personal hygiene and appearancePerforms other duties as assigned by Supervisor or designeeEducation/Experience Requirements:Prior food handling experience preferredFood Safety Program certificate and/or HACCP certificate preferredCognitive/Communication Abilities:Ability to follow verbal and written directionsAbility to maintain pleasant, cooperative and positive work attitude and communication, while focusing on efficiencies and customer serviceNeat and clean appearancePhysical Demands:Remain in a stationary position 50%Move about work area with easePosition self accurately and safelyHave the ability to lift, carry, push, pull and or move up to 50 poundsHave specific vision abilities including close, color and adjust focusHandle hot and sharp objectsUse hands for simple grasping and fine manipulationsHave ability to communicate and converse with employees and studentsBe exposed to cafeteria/kitchen environmental conditions with severe temperature changes and moderate to loud noise levelsUsual lifting activity: Medium, lifting up to 50 lbs. maximum and carrying objects up to 25 lbs.Requires occasional pushing (these activities are an essential part of the job at random intervals)Requires frequent bending, reaching, speaking, and walking (these activities are a usual and customary part of the job.)Requires constant hearing, seeing, and standing (these activities are continually occurring as part of the job)Other Requirements:Current Act 34, Act 114 and Act 151 clearancesSchool Health Form (including physical and TB test)PDE Form 6004 and Act 168 disclosure forms
